Ricky Weiss Rides to Red River Win; Crossville on Deck

Headingly, Manitoba, Canada (10/03/16) – Ricky Weiss returned to familiar territory over the weekend behind the wheel of his Derrick’s Sandblasting #7 The Orthopaedic Institute of Western Kentucky/ Longhorn Chassis/ Vic Hill Racing Engine Super Late Model, and he banked on that familiarity to claim his second win of 2016.

Piloting his Derrick’s Sandblasting #7W Super Late Model, Ricky Weiss made the short trip to Red River Co-op Speedway (Winnipeg, Manitoba) on Friday for the two-day Prairie Classic. Starting on the pole of his heat, Weiss cruised to the heat race win, giving him the 5th-starting spot for the main event. Running into mechanical issues, Ricky was unfortunately an early retiree from the A-Main.

On Saturday night Weiss was looking to rebound from his poor luck. His night began with him starting in the 4th position in his heat race. Weiss would go on to cruise to another heat race win, earning him the 2nd-starting position for the A-Main. Charging into the top spot early in the finale, Ricky Weiss reeled in his second victory of the season with Dustin Strand Brad Seng, Mike Balcaen, and Rick Fawcett. Rounding out the Top 5 finishers.

“It was definitely a disappointing start to the weekend, but we were able to bounce back on Saturday night and park this hot rod in victory lane,” said Weiss. “After spending most of this season down in Tennessee it was really great to be back close to home and surrounded by so many family and friends this weekend.”

Ricky’s next scheduled event will take him back to Tennessee to compete in the Tennessee State Championship on October 7-8 at Crossville Speedway (Crossville, Tennessee).
