Competing in the two-day Grant Junghans Memorial, Rodney Sanders visited Lakeside Speedway (Kansas City, Kansas) on Thursday night for the Deuces Wild event. Placing 7th in his heat from the 9th-starting spot, Sanders transferred into the B-Main for another shot at the main event. Sending the Top 5 into one of the two opening night $1,500-to-win features, Rodney secured his spot with a runner-up finish behind Jesse Sobbing. Starting in 29th, Rodney Sanders improved six positions in the 25-lapper registering a 23rd-place outing.

The following night for the Grant Junghans Memorial, Rodney cruised to a heat race win early in the night, placing him 12th on the starting rundown for the $10,002-to-win A-Main. Breaking into a podium spot, Sanders advanced nine positions in the 42-lapper, notching a 3rd place finish behind Lucas Schott and Jason Hughes with Dereck Ramirez and Cade Dillard rounding out the Top 5.

On Saturday night Sanders stopped at Salina Highbanks Speedway (Salina, Oklahoma) for the final night of the 4th annual Sooner Showdown. Battling with the defending champ of the event, Jason Hughes in the late-stages of the A-Main, Sanders edged the Hughes at the finish line to pick up his 14th win of the season and a $3,000 payday.

“It really was a great weekend four team,” commented Sanders. “We had to battle tough fields every night, so to get a win and a podium was great. I’m looking forward to getting back in the Super Late Model this coming weekend.”
