Delmas Conley Capitalizes on Rod’s Misfortune to Bag $3,000 STARS Triumph!

(WHEELERSBURG, OHIO) Conley Motorsports, Inc. (CMI) ventured north to Atomic Speedway in Alma, Ohio on Saturday evening, October 1 for a Short Track Auto Racing Series (STARS) showdown. Delmas, Rod, and R.J. Conley all showed speed in the single day program, but Delmas was able to come out on top to score the $3,000 windfall. The 74-year-old Hall of Famer ran second in his heat race, but was in position to take the victory in the headliner when his son Rod came up lame on the final turn of the last circuit. Delmas swooped in to steal the win with Rod Conley, Greggie Oliver, Billy Gullion, and Chris Shannon following his famed #71 machine to the checkers!

Rod won his heat race in preliminary action and controlled the field through much of the feature event. A broken yoke on the transmission was his downfall on the final lap, but his runner-up effort secured him the 2016 Track Championship at Atomic Speedway! R.J. clicked off the fastest lap of the 21 entrants during qualifying to earn Fast Time honors and also won his heat race. The Wheelersburg, Ohio standout was then leading early in the feature distance when he suffered a flat tire, but later charged back into the top five before a broken rim eventually caused him to retire from the attrition-filled contest in the sixth position. Complete results from Saturday at Atomic Speedway can be viewed online at www.atomicspeedway.net.

Two more STARS programs are planned for the CMI teams this upcoming weekend (October 7-8) in the Buckeye State. Rod Conley is slated to kick off his weekend on Friday night at Skyline Speedway in Stewart, Ohio in the annual ‘Harvest 50,’ which will boast a $3,000 winner’s check. The STARS tour will then roll back into Atomic Speedway in Alma, Ohio on Saturday evening for a $4,000 to win shootout. Delmas, Rod, and R.J. Conley are all scheduled to be in the pit area once again at the former K-C Raceway. More information concerning these races can be accessed by clicking on www.starslm.com.
