    Tyler Carpenter Wins 29th Annual Sunoco Race Fuels “Butterball” Wooldridge Memorial at Richmond Raceway

    Richmond, KY (October 8, 2016)- Richmond Raceway presented the 29th Annual Sunoco Race Fuels Paul “Butterball” Wooldridge Memorial for Sonic Late Models on Saturday evening and second-generation speedster Tyler Carpenter of Parkersburg, WV would claim the biggest win of his career and a $10,059 to win payday, plus lap leader money as well, in winning the 59 lap contest. Other feature winners for the evening included Blake Brown of Corbin, KY in Phantom Racing Gear Modifieds, Dennis Roberson of Paris, KY in American Dirt Allstars AR Bodies KDRA Super Stocks, and Shane Irvin of Liberty, KY in Pro-Tow Towing Stock Four Cylinders.

    The make-up features from the Finn Watson Memorial that was rained out on October 1 saw the winners include Greg Johnson of Bedford, IN in Sonic Late Models, Blake Brown of Corbin, KY in Phantom Racing Gear Modifieds, and Jeremie Bretz of Maysville, KY in AR Bodies KDRA Super Stocks.

    Tyler Carpenter would outduel Billy Moyer, Jr. for the lead on the opening lap of the 29th Annual Sunoco Race Fuels Paul “Butterball” Wooldridge Memorial and would survive three restarts, including one with just two circuits remaining, to lay claim to the “Butterball” victory and his biggest career win to date. Carpenter’s victory came behind the wheel of the Pro Tech Auto Sales/Big A Muffler/Elite Services sponsored #28 Kryptonite Race Cars, Isner Race Engines powered entry. Billy Moyer, Jr. would take runner-up honors, with Tanner English claiming the final podium position with a third place effort. Justin Rattliff and Cody Mahoney would complete the top five. The remainder of the top ten finishers would be Greg Johnson, Terry English, Michael Chilton, Jason Jameson, and Tim Tungate. Thirty-one entries would see Carpenter also be top qualifier at 15.387 seconds and win a heat, while Moyer, Jr., Tanner English, and Mahoney would also score heat wins. Derek Fisher would capture the B-Main, while Chris Ruble and Donnie Everman earned track provisional starting spots.

    In the 2nd Annual Finn Watson Memorial Sonic Late Model make-up feature, Greg Johnson would lead wire-to-wire to claim the $2,000 payday in the Jesse Puckett owned Pickers Paradise/Jay Construction/Keyser Manufacturing sponsored #88 Club 29 Race Car powered by a Pro Power Race Engine. Michael Chilton and Todd Coffman would finish second and third, while Derek Fisher and Donnie Everman completed the top five. The remainder of the finishing order would be Daniel Shelton, Chris Ruble, James Rice, and Danny Barrett.

    Blake Brown of Corbin, KY would double up on the night, winning the scheduled Phantom Racing Gear Modified feature and the make-up feature event rained out back on October 1. Brown’s seventh and eighth victories of the season at the track came aboard the Robbie Brown owned Bill’s Bath and Lighting/Tammy Brown Photography/Team Lawyer Muscles/State Farm Insurance/Basement Boutiques sponsored #99 Lightning Chassis, Vic Hill Race Engines powered unit. Brown would be chased in the scheduled feature event at the finish by Jeff Watson, Keith Smith, Aaron Branham, and Russ Gabbert. Sixth through tenth positions would go to Cody Smith, Jimmy Crabtree, Steve Stollings, Mike Pratt, and Dennis Roberson. Twenty-seven entries would see Brown as top qualifier at 16.813 seconds and win a heat, while Watson and Branham were also heat winners, with John Jackson winning the B-Main.

    Brown would win the make-up feature event for the Phantom Racing Gear Modifieds over Cody Smith, Dennis Roberson, Jimmy Robinson, and Brent Estes. The remainder of the top ten in that feature contest were Jimmy Crabtree, Zach Powers, John Jackson, Aaron Cox, and Tyler Collis.

    Dennis Roberson would score the victory in the American Dirt Allstars AR Bodies KDRA Super Stock main event, driving the Trae Soper owned Geddes Pools/R and R Race Cars sponsored #24s entry. Roberson would take the lead around lap 7 and hold off Robby Perkins for the win, while Travis Preston, Jeremie Bretz, and Jeremy Howard rounded out the top five. Completing the top ten finishers would be James Crowe, Glen Hounshell, Jr., Allen Hackworth, Jr., Troy Clark, and Jeremy Creech. Thirty-one entries would see Perkins be top qualifier at 16.750 second and win a heat, while Brandon Hutchinson and Roberson were also heat winners. Troy Clark would win the B-Main.

    In the make-up AR Bodies KDRA Super Stock feature event, Jeremie Bretz would pass Robby Perkins on lap 6 and lead the rest of way for win in the Heather Bretz owned Doug’s Glass and Glazing/The Glenny Glass Company/Hazel’s Knotty Pine/Swartz Enterprises/Palmer Equipment sponsored #14 Chevy Monte Carlo. Perkins, Faron Robinson, Jeremy Howard, and Troy Clark completed the top five. The second-five finishers at the finish would be John Hall, Trae Soper, Darrell Cain, Thomas Hoch, and Rudi Strebeck.

    Shane Irvin would lead the final few circuits of the Pro-Tow Towing Stock Four Cylinder feature and take the lead from Jeremy Porter and would proceed to drive to victory in his State Farm Insurance/Lake Country Outdoors/Highway 80 Body Shop sponsored #92 Ford Mustang entry. Tyler Hayes would nip Porter for the runner-up position, with Clint Cox and Eric Reynolds finishing fourth and fifth. The rest of the top ten finishers would be Charles Burton, Jacob Taulbee, Eric Masters, Tyler Lawson, and Jason Stone. Twenty-eight entries would see Dylan Stevens be top qualifier at 18.593 seconds, while heat race wins went to Porter, Irvin, and Jeremie Bretz, while Bill Taulbee won the B-Main.
