Chris Ferguson Qualifies for DTWC; Busy Weekend Next

Mt. Holly, North Carolina (10/18/16) – Chris Ferguson made the trip to Ohio over the weekend to compete in the 36th annual Dirt Track World Championship in his Champion Spark Plugs #22 Rocket Chassis/ Clements Racing Engine Super Late Model at Cherokee Speedway.

“Overall it wasn’t a bad weekend because we made the race against a really strong field of competition,” said Ferguson. “We didn’t get the finish that we wanted in the 100 lapper, but we still had a good time. We’ll go back next year and try to have a better run. In the meantime, I’m excited to be racing close to home this weekend.”

On Friday night Chris Ferguson invaded Portsmouth Raceway Park (Portsmouth, Ohio) for the opening round of the two-day 36th Annual Rhino Ag Dirt Track World Championship presented by Optima Batteries. With 79 cars registered for two rounds of heat races, Ferguson followed up a 4th-place finish in his first heat with a runner-up finish in his second heat, trailing Gregg Satterlee across the finish line.

Via his heat race performances Chris locked into the 13th-starting position for the $100,000-to-win A-Main on Saturday evening. Chris raced around mid-pack during the race’s early stages before ultimately retiring to a 22nd-place finish in the 100-lapper.

Then on Sunday he will enter the annual Blue/Grey 100 at Cherokee Speedway (Gaffney, South Carolina), which will be sanctioned by the Carolina Clash Super Late Model Series and posts a $10,000 top prize.
