Rod Conley Nabs Top Ten in $100k DTWC; Heads to Florence this Weekend

(WHEELERSBURG, OHIO) Conley Motorsports, Inc. (CMI) ventured to the nearby Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, Ohio on October 14-15 for the 36th Annual 'Dirt Track World Championship,' which was sanctioned by the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series and attracted 80 competitors to vie for the whopping $100,000 winner's share. The unique format for the crown jewel spectacular started with two sets of heat races on Friday evening. Rod Conley enjoyed the best weekend of the three CMI drivers in attendance, as he won his first heat race prior to winding up fifth in his second prelim. After amassing the eleventh most passing points during preliminary action to automatically transfer into Saturday's 100-lap DTWC, Rod placed tenth in the final rundown of the extra-distance affair.

R.J. Conley finished sixth in his first heat race and second in his final heat race prior to scoring the victory in his B-Main on Saturday night. Unfortunately, his nose folded under early in the 'Dirt Track World Championship' and he was forced to retire in the twenty-sixth position. Delmas Conley - the patriarch of the racing Conley clan - was unable to transfer into the $100,000 to win main event after running eighth in his first heat race, fourth in his second heat race, and eighteenth in his B-Main. “Hot Rod” Conley will be the lone CMI driver in competition this Saturday evening, October 22, as his #71r team will roll into the venerable Florence Speedway in Union, Kentucky for the annual running of the ‘Fall 50.’ The unsanctioned Super Late Model special at the undersized 1/2-mile oval will pay $5,000 to the winner. Rod was the 2013 victor of the ‘Fall 50’ and will be looking for another race title this Saturday.
