Dennis Erb, Jr. Finishes Sixth in Final LOLMDS Points; Trip to Whynot Ahead

(CARPENTERSVILLE, ILLINOIS) The 2016 version of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series season wrapped up over the October 14-15 weekend at Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, Ohio, as the 36th Annual 'Dirt Track World Championship' took center stage and 80 competitors piled into the southern Ohio facility to vie for the whopping $100,000 winner's check. Things kicked off on Friday evening at PRP with two rounds of heat races and combined passing points set the field for Saturday's championship night.

Dennis Erb, Jr. ran second in his first heat race, but was later involved in a wreck in his second and final prelim on Friday, which led to an eighth place finish. After placing sixteenth in the B-Main on Saturday, Dennis utilized a series provisional and started twenty-fourth on the grid in the 100-lap DTWC. Unfortunately, a broken lower shaft in the rear-end of his #28 machine forced him to draw a lap fourteen caution and Dennis was relegated to a disappointing twenty-fifth place performance. The Carpentersville, Illinois standout wound up sixth in the final rundown of the LOLMDS point standings. Complete results from Portsmouth can be accessed by clicking on www.lucasdirt.com.

The Dennis Erb Racing team will now turn their focus to the 22nd edition of the ‘Coors Light Fall Classic’ on October 21-22 at Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, Mississippi. The unsanctioned Super Late Model special will start on Friday night with qualifying and heat races, while the two-day showdown will be capped off on Saturday evening with the consolation events and the 100-lap headliner. A $15,000 top prize has once again been established for the ‘Coors Light Fall Classic’ winner. Dennis is always a threat when he pulls through the pit gate at Whynot, as he has finished inside of the top ten the last five years including a fifth place effort last season!
