Cory Hedgec ock Clinches NeSmith Titles

Loudon, Tennessee (10/25/16) – Cory Hedgec ock put an exclamation point on the 2016 NeSmith Dirt Late Model Series season over the weekend in his SmithBilt Homes #23 Transport One/ Rocket Chassis.

The Tennessee racer not only claimed a victory, but he also clinched his first championship with the series as well as rookie of the year honors.

“We set out this season to run a tour for the first time, and our biggest goals were to be consistent and to win the Rookie of the Year title,” commented Hedgec ock. “However to win the championship and the rookie title in the same year is just an incredible feeling. The guys on this tour are really tough and definitely made me work hard for it. I can’t say enough thanks to everyone, who helped make this possible.”

NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series action resumed over the weekend as Cory Hedgec ock traveled to Talladega Short Track (Eastaboga, Alabama) on Friday for the opening round of the two-day NASCAR weekend. With 50 Crate Late Models on hand, Hedgec ock qualified fastest in his group, putting him on the pole of the $2,000-to-win A-Main. Jumping to a commanding lead early in the main event, Cory held off a late race rally on lap 30 to capture his 19th win of the season over Ronnie Johnson, Jason Hiett, Jake Knowles, and Riley Hickman.

Returning on Saturday evening for the $2,500-to-win A-Main, Hedgec ock timed in 2nd fastest in his group, which locked him into the 4th-starting position for the feature. Breaking into the podium, Cory landed a 3rd-place finish behind Jason Hiett and Ronnie Johnson with Adam Gauldin and Chase Edge rounding out the Top 5.

With his performance over the weekend, Cory clinched the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series points title and also clinched the NeSmith Rookie of the Year award.
