COCHRAN, GA – Cochran Speedway is gearing up for the 2016 season finale, the $10,000-to-win Gobbler 100 for the Southern Thunder Late Model Series on November 24, 25 and 26. There will also be extra laps and extra cash in all of the Cochran Speedway Weekly Divisions that include Jr. Enduro, Bomber, Pure Stock, Super Street/Hobby, and Limited Late Model Sportsman.

The Southern Thunder Late Model Series will compete for the largest purse in its history, featuring the top dirt late model drivers from six different states. The series will also crown its 2016 points champion at the Gobbler 100 at Cochran Speedway on November 24, 25 and 26, as just a few points separate the top five drivers in the series’ point standings.

“We’re very excited about the event coming up at Cochran Speedway on November 24, 25 and 26,” Southern Thunder Late Model Series Founder and Director Ben Sumner said. “It’s going to be a great weekend of racing and in addition to the largest purse in the history of the Southern Thunder Late Model Series; it will be a championship event as well.”

Track officials have stated that competitors can also use the economical all-aluminum Chevrolet Performance CT525 Engine based on the production LS3 Engine that comes in the Chevrolet Corvette, Chevrolet Camaro, and Chevrolet SS available at Chevrolet dealerships worldwide.

NeSmith Chevrolet, Buick, GMC in Claxton, GA is a major sponsor at Cochran Speedway and has the Chevrolet Performance CT525 Engine in stock for $9,950 that includes the turn-key starter kit with free next day delivery.

Cochran Speedway has received a lot of attention in the Southeastern dirt track racing community since the Martin Family purchased the facility three years ago. There have been extensive renovations and improvements to the facility that has created an entirely new atmosphere for fans and competitors alike.

Most recently, Cochran Speedway Owner Chris Martin brought in a new type of dirt for the track surface for the Georgia State Championship Races at Cochran Speedway that were held on October 22. After drivers praised Martin for making a gutsy call to put new clay down before a big race, he is now looking to do more of the same for the Gobbler 100.

“I was very nervous about the new clay, but now I feel very confident that it’s going to be the right move to give our drivers and fans a great place to race and see some side-by-side racing,” Martin said. “We have already begun working on the track and getting it ready for the Gobbler 100. We will be adding additional dirt and banking in the turns and I think we’re on our way to having the best dirt racing surface in the South.”

In addition to NeSmith Chevrolet, Cochran Speedway would also like to thank its other fine sponsors for the Gobbler 100. They include Mike Brooks Flooring, Five-Star Hyundai, Home Furniture Mattress, Southway Crane, Heartland EMS, Sunoco Race Fuels, Dublin Tire Company, Last Air Electrical, Mule Hide Products, and Extreme Racing Engines.
