Nathan Stephens
Next Race - TBA
2024 Season: 3 - Brownstown (IN) 1, Farmer City (IL) 1, & Kankakee (IL) 1
-
Looks like no Summernationals next year
-
Car count was pretty bad for the SN races from a lack of guys following the entire tour the last few years. It was time for a change, the mod show will be HUGE
-
Usually the SN starts at Brownstown then Kanakakee followed by Cedar Lake shows...maybe we will see Joliet follow Kankakee? Possibly Danville?
-
UMP is a thing of the past. Just saying!
-
Also wished cedar lake would get there heads out of their behinds and race all 3 nights with A- features. Lets race, I may skip the Friday night portions of both races. Waste of money!!!

IMO, they need to run it like the Fall Jamboree. 3 nights of racing, 3 A-features.
The days of 2 and 3 day shows (plus another night of practice) running for 1 paycheck has been keeping cars away, IMO.
They could pay out 5k, 10k, and 20k the three nights and probably draw more cars then one 50k show over 2-3 days. See the Summersota Nationals vs. the Fall Jamboree for that.

Says it pays $2,500 for last place. Most modified features don't pay that much

I'd venture to guess the same could be said about most late model features too.

cedar Lake is charging 30 bucks just for Friday night. Thats robbery in my opinion. Cedar lake used to be an awesome Late model track, but they are doing it wrong!
Not bashing the track, just wished they would get on with the times. I got my camping tickets and I am still going just do it right is all I am asking!!
-
Masters is back to $50k to win. Cool. No purse announced for USA Nationals.
Edit. Oh, that's modifieds. Still cool.

Check CLS's FB page and see what they did to the track for next year. Also a couple of quick vids of Pat Doar testing it:

1/4 million dollar purse for Mods. Should be good and I will be there.
-
never thought my first trip to cedar lake would be for a modified show.
but with a history of glowing reviews for the track, the quality and quantity of the modifieds that I expect to be there, plus my love of any great racing, looking to pencil this in on my 2017 race calendar.
jmo: and I have been spoiled with access to a lot of usmts events (love the format and quality of talent!!!), and the competition at the local level at what used to be my hometown track, so I don't really understand the animosity towards modifieds.
want local success? put a two spin rule in and let the talent race!
And the days that I keep my gratitude higher than my expectations, well, I have really good days - Ray Wylie Hubbard

Maybe UMP will talk 34 raceway into taking them back for the SN race. That was one of the best Summer National races ever.
