Ray Cook Nabs Pair of Top Tens at Ponderosa; Takes Own #53 to Showdown at Senoia

(CLINTON, TENNESSEE) Ray Cook and the Advanced Motorsports team passed through the pit gate at Ponderosa Speedway in Junction City, Kentucky on November 4-5 for a pair of Super Late Model special events. On Friday night in the $3,000 to win 'Hugh "Junebug" Rowland Memorial,' Ray laid down the twelfth fastest lap in Group A during qualifying prior to scoring the victory in his consolation event. After rolling off from the inside of the ninth row in the unsanctioned feature event, Ray blitzed past eight competitors during the headliner on his way to solid ninth place effort in the weekend opener.

At Ponderosa on Saturday evening, the Southern Nationals Bonus Series roared into town to preside over the annual running of the 'Fall Classic,' which boasted a $10,000 winner's check. Ray qualified tenth quickest in Group B during time trials and later ran fifth in his loaded heat race. Following a triumph in his B-Main, the Brasstown, North Carolina driver started the 50-lap weekend finale from the outside of the ninth row. Ray once again was on the move early and often in the main event, as he worked his way up to sixth to trail only victor Eric Wells, Kent Robinson, Jason Welshan, Donald McIntosh, and Steve Francis at the checkers. Complete results from the Ponderosa double-dip can be viewed online at www.ponderosaspeedway.net.

With the Advanced Motorsports team doing some work on their new shop this upcoming weekend, Ray plans to unload his own #53 mount on November 11-12 at Senoia Raceway in Senoia, Georgia. The Southern Nationals Bonus Series will sanction the inaugural ‘Showdown at Senoia’ and a $10,000 top prize will be on the line. Qualifying and heat races are scheduled for Friday night, while the consolation events and the 60-lap feature are slated for Saturday evening.
