Dennis Erb, Jr. Puts Exclamation Mark on 2016 Campaign with National 100 Triumph!

(CARPENTERSVILLE, ILLINOIS) The Dennis Erb Racing team wrapped up their tremendous 2016 racing season in triumphant fashion on Sunday evening, November 6 by emerging victorious in the 42nd version of the 'National 100' at the historic East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City, Alabama! Dennis Erb, Jr. started from the outside of the sixth row in the 100-lap mega-event by virtue of racking up the twelfth most points in preliminary action on Friday and Saturday. Dennis methodically worked his way to the front and stalked leader Tim McCreadie for the point before assuming command of the talented field on the 79th circuit. The Carpentersville, Illinois star then led the remainder of the distance to pocket the $20,000 payday over McCreadie, Brandon Overton, Darrell Lanigan, and Don O'Neal!

Earlier in the weekend, a pair of $5,000 top prizes were on the line in 'National 100' preliminary events at EAMS. On Friday, Dennis timed in seventh quickest in Group B during qualifying prior to running second in his B-Main and seventeenth in the 42-lap feature event. In Saturday's showdown, Dennis posted the second fastest lap in Group B during time trials, which automatically locked him into the outside of the second row for the start of the 42-lapper. He then finished right where he started in the caution-free affair... in the fourth position behind only victor Tim McCreadie, Don O'Neal, and Brandon Overton. Full results from the season-ending 'National 100' weekend can be accessed online at www.eamsdirt.com.

“That was quite a way to end what has been a very good year for us,” quoted the soft-spoken Erb earlier this week by telephone. “We didn’t start out real good early in the weekend, but each day we made strides on our car and got it right for the 100-lapper. Tim (McCreadie) was strong all weekend and early in the feature on Sunday, but we were on the right tires and got better as the race wore on. I’ve been going to that place for a lot of years and have been close to winning the National 100 on several occasions, but things worked out for us this time and I couldn’t be happier. I need to thank everyone associated with our race team - Heather (Lyne) and others that worked on the car, our sponsors, our fans, and just everyone for their support that made our season possible!”

The win at EAMS in his season finale gave Dennis a total of four victories during the course of his 2016 campaign, which was of course headlined by his $100,000 ‘Dirt Late Model Dream’ win at Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio back in June. In the 80 events that Dennis entered this year, he was able to accumulate 25 Top Five finishes and 49 Top Ten performances. In Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series action, Dennis parlayed 10 Top Fives and 28 Top Tens into a sixth place effort in the final national series point standings.
