OUTLAW SPEEDWAY TO RETURN AS A SWEENEY RUSH LATE MODEL WEEKLY-SANCTIONED TRACK IN 2017 FOR NORTHEAST'S FRIDAY NIGHT ANCHOR; CLAY ADDED; TOUR EVENTS IN PLANNING

November 15, 2016 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(Dundee, NY)... Outlaw Speedway owner/promoter, Tyler Siri, has confirmed that Outlaw will return as a Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC RUSH Late Model Weekly Series-sanctioned speedway in 2017 season. The Dundee, New York track, formerly known as Black Rock and Yates County Speedway, will be the anchor for Friday night Sweeney Weekly Series action in the Northeast. Outlaw recently completed its first year under the ownership of Siri in conjunction with the Crate Late Models running full-time for the first time ever. A Sweeney Tour event or two are in the planning stages, which could possibly link a second speedway in that region.

Sweeney Touring Series regulars Jason and Brian Knowles dominated action in 2016 winning 10 of the 12 features as each driver captured five wins. Ironically, Touring Series one-two point finishers John Waters and Bryce Davis won the other two events giving Tour regulars a sweep of all 12 feature events. Jason Knowles was the top point earner as part of RUSH's new "Track Pack Bonus" program and will receive $300 at the 2016 awards banquet on January 21. Brian Knowles will receive $200 for finishing second in points with $150 going to Waters in third, $100 to Chris Fleming in fourth, and $50 to Davis in fifth.

"Even though our car count wasn't what we had hoped for, I really believe in the RUSH program," stated Siri. "We had issues with our surface and unfortunately numerous cars that came early in the season didn't return and as a racer I understand that. I wanted to take the time and resurface it properly and we recently completed that process. Though we're not in the heart of Crate Late Model country, I'm committed to making it work at Outlaw. With the new surface, RUSH's backing, several regional drivers making the move to the division, and being the only New York track running the division on Friday nights, I'm confident that can happen."

"It was very encouraging to get the call from Tyler to confirm that Outlaw will be back under RUSH's banner in 2017," explained RUSH Director Vicki Emig. "Over the course of our 10 years of overseeing Crate Late Model racing in the Northeast, we try and stress to new tracks the importance of staying the course and allowing the division to grow rather than giving up in the early going. We commend Siri for his efforts to make Outlaw better and sticking with our program into the future. Siri didn't take over Outlaw until February this year and we weren't able to come up with a suitable Touring Series date, but we look forward to bringing the Tour there for one or two visits in 2017."

Outlaw Speedway, which is located in the heart of the Finger Lakes, will continue to give racers in central New York an additional place to race to earn RUSH points joining with Fulton Speedway, which sanctioned their Crate Late Models for the first time in 2015. Fulton's counts have grown over the last two years.

Once again in 2017, RUSH member racers will be able to participate at Outlaw and be eligible for all of the programs including the Sweeney Weekly Series Championship, the Pace Performance “Summer Chase”, along with the Bilstein Bandits and the “Futures Cup” for those eligible racers. Member racers will battle for the "Track Pack Bonus" with $300 going to the driver that accumulates the most RUSH points at Outlaw, $200 to second, $150 for third, $100 for fourth, and $50 for fifth. Contingency prizes will then be posted for those racers in sixth through eighth in the RUSH member points. While membership is not mandatory to compete in any RUSH-sanctioned event, membership also include a $100,000 excess participant accident policy, which is over and above drivers’ health insurance and speedways’ participant accident policy.
