November 25, 2016 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(Batavia, NY)... Following the completion of the first full-time season running the RUSH Late Models, Genesee Speedway promoter Jim Johnson has announced that not only will the division return as the track's headlining class on Saturday nights in 2017, but also the Batavia, New York dirt track will host its first ever Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC Touring Series event on Saturday, June 3! This will set up a big weekend for the Sweeney Tour in New York as Outlaw Speedway will also host a $2,000 to-win Marquee event the night before!

After the previous management tried a pair of first ever RUSH Late Model weekly events late in 2015 at Genesee, Johnson brought in the class weekly in 2016 further expanding the growth of crates in the western New York area. Thirty different racers participated during the 16 RUSH weekly-sanctioned events with an amazing 11 different winners!

Beamer Guzzardi captured the inaugural track championship, while Jimmy Johnson, Jr. earned the $300 RUSH member track championship as part of the weekly "Track Pack" program over Brad Mesler. Mesler also finished second at Freedom Motorsports Park, where he'll earn $200 for each track. Randy Ralyea ($150), John Waters ($100), and Damian Bidwell ($50) finished third through fifth in the RUSH member points at Genesee. Those monies are in addition to what was earned throughout the various RUSH weekly programs.

A new two-event Sweeney Marquee Tour weekend for 2017 will take place on Friday and Saturday, June 2-3 at Outlaw and Genesee Speedways. Outlaw, located in Dundee, NY, will host the Friday night stop paying $2,000 to-win in the "Gary Montgomery Memorial". The last time the Sweeney Tour appeared at Outlaw was back in 2012 under the Black Rock Speedway name when Wayne Robertson topped the 32-car field. Robertson will be looking to repeat in 2017. Action will then shift 90-miles northwest on Saturday night for the first ever Sweeney Tour event at Genesee, which will also pay $2,000 to-win!

"Genesee Speedway is proud to renew its commitment to the RUSH Late Model Series after a successful first season," acknowledged Jim Johnson. "We look forward to having the RUSH Tour stop in to compete with the strong group of local drivers that supported us weekly last season and hope to continue to grow our weekly car count with RUSH's support."

"It's great to have the strong support by Jim Johnson and his belief in the RUSH program as he looks towards his second year at Genesee," stated RUSH Director Vicki Emig. "It was also very encouraging that both Johnson and Outlaw's Tyler Siri wanted to each host a Tour event in 2017, and we felt it would be very beneficial to everyone to hook them up in back-to-back $2,000 to-win Marquee events! We've heard nothing but praise for Johnson and the Genesee track in his first season promoting. It's also encouraging to hear so many new racers that will be entering the class at Genesee and throughout western New York, which should grow their car count event more."

RUSH member racers will again be able to participate at Genesee in 2017 and be eligible for all of the programs including the Sweeney Weekly Series Championship, the Pace Performance “Summer Chase”, along with the Bilstein Bandits and the “Futures Cup” for those eligible racers. Also, member racers will battle for the "Track Pack Bonus" with $300 going to the driver that accumulates the most RUSH points at Genesee, $200 to second, $150 for third, $100 for fourth, and $50 for fifth. Contingency prizes will then be posted for those racers in sixth through eighth in the RUSH member points. In addition contingencies will be posted for three regular racers at the start of "Summer Chase" program.

While membership is not mandatory to compete in any RUSH-sanctioned event, membership also include a $100,000 excess participant accident policy, which is over and above drivers’ health insurance and speedways’ participant accident policy.
