Riley Hickman Romps to $10k Payday in the Possum Town Grand Prix

Cleveland, Tennessee (11/28/16) – Riley Hickman pocketed a $10,000 payday behind the wheel of his Hickman Manufacturing #R1 CVR Crate Late Model after dominating the annual Possum Town Grand Prix at Magnolia Motor Speedway.

Riley Hickman invaded Magnolia Motor Speedway (Columbus, Mississippi) on Friday night for the opening round of the two-day Possum Town Grand Prix, which was sanctioned by the NeSmith Dirt Late Model Series.

Drawing a stacked field of 66 Crate Late Models for the big event, Hickman qualified fastest overall, giving him a solid starting spot for his heat. Storming to a heat race victory, Riley secured the pole position for the main event on Saturday night.

Grabbing the lead on the drop of the green flag, Hickman cruised through the first half of the race with no cars threatening for the lead. Following a late-race caution that brought the field closer together, Riley held off various challenges before again motoring away from his closest pursuers to pick up his 18th victory of the season and a $10,000 payday. Chase Washington, Eric Cooley, Chris Brown, and Grant Garrison rounded out the Top-5 finishers in the 100-lap A-Main.

"We made the right tire call," Hickman said. "We were gambling there, and I think we're probably harder (on tire compound) than anybody else out here. We weren't quite sure how it was going to play out. (Promoter) Johnny (Stokes) always has this place phenomenal. It's always great to race at. I just wish it was a little closer to home, but that five hours over here isn't too bad."
