    Default Pennington And Davenport On Front Row For OSP Showdown In Savannah

    SAVANNAH, GA – Travis Pennington of Stapleton, GA earned the pole position for Saturday night’s $10,000-to-win 19th Annual Showdown In Savannah at Oglethorpe Speedway Park. Pennington won the first of four eight-lap heat races on Friday night to earn the inside front row starting spot for the big show.

    Jonathan Davenport of Blairsville, GA will start the Showdown In Savannah on the outside of the front row on Saturday night after winning the second eight-lap heat race on Friday night. Fastrak Pro Late Model Series World Champion Dennis Franklin of Gaffney, SC won the third eight-lap heat race on Friday night and starts the Showdown In Savannah on the inside of row two.

    Hunter Carter of Blackshear, GA starts the 19th Annual Showdown In Savannah on Saturday night from the outside of the second row after winning the fourth eight-lap heat race on Friday night. Carter opened Friday night’s action by out-timing the 29-car field with a lap around the ˝-mile dirt oval in 20.331 seconds in qualifying.

    The top five finishers in each of the four heat races transferred into the $10,000-to-win 19th Annual Showdown In Savannah. Joining Pennington out of the first heat were the defending race winner Cecil Eunice of Blackshear, GA, Kyle Bronson of Brandon, FL, Casey Barrow, and Keith Tuten.

    Making the show along with Davenport out of the second heat race were Ben Faircloth of Swainsboro, GA, the Fastrak Pro Late Model Southeastern Region and Mid-Ohio Valley Region Champion Cla Knight of North Augusta, SC, Donnie Bazemore Jr. of Brooklet, GA, and Colby Jenerette.

    Transferring out of the third heat race with Franklin were former Showdown In Savannah winner Mark Whitener of Middleburg, FL, Robert Diekemper of Bloomingdale, GA, Joshua Bishop of Statesboro, GA, and Jason Fitzgerald of Middleburg, FL. Joining Carter into the big show out of the fourth heat race were Russell Brown, Jordan Feider, Branden Yawn, and Garrett Shurling.

    Four spots remain open for the starting line-up of Saturday night’s $10,000-to-win 19th Annual Showdown In Savannah. The top two finishers of the ten-lap B-Main Race to be contested before the main event on Saturday night will line-up in the 21st and 22nd starting spots for the feature race. Starting positions 23 and 24 will be for Provisional starters to be announced after the B-Main.

    On Saturday, gates open at 4:30 p.m., with Hot Laps at 6:20 p.m. and Racing scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Pit passes are $40 for Adults and $20 for Children 12 and younger. The Grandstand ticket prices are $20 for Adults, $18 for Seniors and Military, and $5 for children 12 and under.

    If my memory is correct he has been out for about 3 years. Glad to see Travis back racing.

    Pennington was racing with a heavy heart I am sure as his grandfather Ed (Candy) Massey passed away this morning racing has lost another great one.

    Sad to hear. He was Jack's father-in-law and Stan Massy's dad. He helped a lot of drivers over the years, especially at Dixie.
