    Default Rear Ends

    When people say 4.11 rear or 4.86 rear on quick changes are they referring to the pionon gear. Which is better or more preferred and why.

    Yes. Refers to ring and pinion ratio. 4.11 is supposed to scrub less power. 4.86 still more common especially considering used stuff.

    The ring teeth on the 4.11 are thicker. This should mean stronger than the 4.86. I'm not sure in real life, how it breaks down. There are advantages with the 4.86, because the quick change gears are closer in teeth size, to each other for most short tracks. This should make them stronger at that point. Do you break ring and pinion gears or quick change gears? I always thought drag was the same if over all gear reduction was the same.
