    Default Rumley #6

Maybe I missed it, but I thought I remembered a story on dirtondirt that Rumleys were scaling back and would race around home and the southeast some. Is this still the plan or are they done for good? If not, any ideas who the driver maybe?

You read correctly. Kevin told me just last week that they would be racing in 2017. No word on the driver yet.

That article also said they may go with a few different drivers throughout the year.

I'm hoping Fergy runs for them. It would seem like a great fit since they are close to each other. Even if he runs his own stuff to chase the Ultimate or one of the other regional series and runs the big races for Rumley it would be a good deal for him.

From what I have heard a wheelman out of Louisburg NC will be driving it part time.

Hope it all happens. The Rumley #6 has been a fixture for decades.

There is a certain driver in Greensboro who has had much success with Rumley in the past that will be wheeling the saw blade 6 in a few events next year.

    So who lives in Louisburg?

Wow! If it really is The Rock behind the wheel then I'm already hoping I'm off on those racedays to see that sight! Growing up in central NC all I heard about from people my parents age was Ray Tucker and the legend that precedes him. Correct me if I'm wrong but I heard thru some that his win total is some astronomical number. Anyone know for sure?

About 550 wins, I believe. Comes from good racing stock as his father was really a NASCAR driver for a year or two.

How old is Ray Tucker? I have some pictures from WVMS and Pennsboro with his car in them.

His website says he's 58, will turn 59 on January 6th.

Where did Tucker rack up all those wins? I've never seen him win anything. Is it all local tracks?

It's hard to win a championship without taking care of equipment.
