    Iron-Man Series Opens Season at Boyd’s Speedway with Ninth Annual Cabin Fever 40 on January 28

    Somerset, KY (January 8, 2017)- Boyd’s Speedway in Ringgold, GA will be the site for the opening contests for the Schaeffer’s Oil Iron-Man Championship Series Super Late Models and Brucebilt Performance Iron-Man Modified Division Series as the tour will sanction the Ninth Annual Cabin Fever 40 for Super Late Models and the inaugural Cabin Fever 25 for Open Wheel Modifieds on Saturday January 28.

    The event marks the opening contest for the Schaffer’s Oil Iron-Man Championship Series Super Late Models for 2017 and will mark the first-ever event for the Brucebilt Performance Iron-Man Modified Division Series and will also feature the Open Wheel Modified division competitors for the first-time ever in the storied history of Boyd’s Speedway.

    The Schaeffer’s Oil Iron-Man Championship Series Super Late Models will be in competition in the 40 lap, $3,500 to win/$350 to start Cabin Fever 40 main event, while the Brucebilt Performance Iron-Man Modified Division Series will be in competition in the 25 lap, $1,500 to win/$150 to win Cabin Fever 25 contest.

    Joining the Super Late Model and Open Wheel Modified division for the Ninth Annual Cabin Fever event will be Crate Late Models competing for $1,500 to win ($50 entry fee), Sportsman Late Models racing for $1,500 to win ($50 entry fee), and the Hobby class will be racing for $500 to win.

    Donald McIntosh of Dawsonville, GA would be victorious in the 2016 Cabin Fever 40 CT Promotions-sanctioned Super Late Model event and take the $3,500 first-place prize money. Dale McDowell would take runner-up honors in the race, with Ray Cook, Jason Manley, and Tod Hernandez giving chase at the finish in an event that drew 37 entries representing five states.

    For the Schaeffer’s Oil Iron-Man Championship Series Super Late Models, the tire rule will be as follows: Hoosier 1350 and 1600; American Racer 48 and 56. These are the only legal tire compounds for all four tires on the race cars. The entry fee for Super Late Model teams will be $100.

    The Super Late Models will race under the 2017 Schaeffer’s Oil Iron-Man Championship Series rules and procedures. The race format for Super Late Models will consist of time trials, heat races, and the Cabin Fever 40 feature event.

    For the Brucebilt Performance Iron-Man Modified Division Series, the tire rule will be as follows: Hoosier A40, A40S, H40 and American Racer Hard and Extra Hard. These are the only legal tire compounds for all four tires on the race cars. Open Wheel Modified division will be required to weigh 2400 lbs. minimum. There will be a $50 entry for Open Wheel Modified division competitors. The format for Modifieds will consist of time trials, heat races, and the Cabin Fever 25 feature event.

    The Super Late Model and Modified divisions will be officiated and race procedures will be enforced by officials with the Schaeffer’s Oil Iron-Man Championship Series Super Late Models and Brucebilt Performance Iron-Man Modified Division Series officials.

    The Crate Late Model, Sportsman Late Model, and Hobby division events will be conducted by Boyd’s Speedway track officials and will utilize 2017 Boyd’s Speedway track rules.

    Activities for the Ninth Annual Cabin Fever at Boyd’s Speedway on Saturday January 28 will see the pit area open at 9:00 a.m., while the general admission area will open at 10:00 a.m. The drivers meeting is set for 12:30 p.m., with practice laps set to begin immediately following the drivers meeting. All times listed are Eastern Time.

    Ticket prices for the Ninth Annual Cabin Fever 40 at Boyd’s Speedway will be $20 for adults, with children ages 12 and under free. Pit passes will be $35 for adults, while a pit pass for children ages 12 and under will be $10. Tickets are available on-line at www.boydsspeedway.net.

    Transponder timing/scoring will be used at the event for all competitors. The rental fee for transponders is $10 in each class and if a driver has their own transponder, there will be $5 scoring fee.

    Officials with Boyd's Speedway will be hosting an open practice in preparation for the 9th Annual Cabin Fever 40 on FRIDAY January 27. The pit area will open at 3:00 p.m., with practice going from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. A pit pass for the practice will be $20, while admission in the grandstand area is free.
