Default Nick Hoffman Interview last last about Illegal headers????

I was curious what he meant by, by now most people know what we have been doing with our headers and UMP will probably make him illegal...

What's the scoop as to what he's been doing with them?

    Mont.

I was wondering that also after I heard him in the interview.

Make no mistake, if Nick is asking about something, there's something to it. You see what they're doing in the modified. It won't be long until they're running more competitive in the late model. He's got all the ingredients.....

Well, i can see that the roof on the car is shaped like an airfoil, inverted...

    Just say no...

Look at the decking on the right side. You'll see it.

Kid is fast. Wonder how much difference in tire temp that equates too?

I see a raised right outer rail, left drivers side deck deck that is supposed to be illegal. ( more than 1" tall) looks to be more than 3" roof rake. But give people something to look at that is obvious or odd,(exhaust out deck) and their eye will be stuck on that instead of things that obviously do make a big difference.
I heard a car in a YouTube video that sounded like it had a long pipe on it. Guess it was his. Sounded like a big block modified.

Starting to Remind me of the car he brought to east bay in 2015 with 10" deck rake in it. Played the rules to the min front deck height and the max rear deck height 28-38. Told him to not bring it to Volusia if I remember right.

You can get away with most anything in Florida. Also depends on who you are with UMP.

I think there should be lifeguards in the genepool.

What would be the advantage of having the exhaust come up through your deck? Interesting to say the least...

The biggest advantage is taking eyeballs off of all the other illegal things on this car. What a joke.

Kind of like a slick card dealer. Slide of hand.
I do the same thing, but not to this extent.

The only thing I can think of it may keep some hot exhaust from blowing on a soft rr tire.

I seen a few cars with this extreme roof rake, easily over the 3" rule.

You can use exhaust to help move airflow where you want it, exactly as has been done with an exhaust blown diffuser in other forms of racing. However, coming out of the deck is not going to achieve that. I've personally designed and tested how to make an EBD work on a late model, but it's benefit and proper application are not immediately obvious. Like everything else I've spent time and money on, it'll end up illegal if it ever gets ran. Thanks Lucas!

Actually without a spoiler and with his airfoil roof, the hot gases on the left side would make a difference. It will cause a low pressure area which will cause more downward force on the roof's cooler air. Nick has spent plenty of time in the wind tunnel (he has previously discussed that) in terms of his decking and such on his modifieds. I race a ump modified and can spot several ump rules violations but will it will never be teched. I will guarantee that he is doing more than just distracting your eye with the exhaust.
