Ponderosa Speedway Season Opener April 1 Postponed Due to Wet Grounds

Junction City, KY (March 31, 2017)- Ponderosa Speedway track promoter Jamie Stumph and co-owner Larry Redenivs have postponed the 2017 season opener at the 3/8 mile D-shaped red clay oval better known as “Kentucky’s Baddest Bullring” due to the wet conditions of the track and grounds, especially part of the pit area and spectator parking.

Heavy rains passed through the Ponderosa Speedway area late on Thursday evening and rains persisted into Friday morning and some into Friday afternoon as well, leaving the grounds very saturated with water. These factors, along with a forecast for cooler temperatures and a forecast for very little sun to help dry things out, left the track with no other option but to postpone the event.

The Schaeffer’s Oil Brucebilt Performance Iron-Man Modified Division Series was scheduled to be a part of the track’s 45th season opener on April 1 as well. The track will make-up the event at a later date in the 2017 season and that will be announced as soon as a suitable date can be agreed upon by the track and series officials. The $600 to win special for the Stock Four Cylinder division will now take place on Saturday April 8.

The 2017 season at Ponderosa Speedway will now officially begin with another scheduled “Saturday Night Special” on Saturday April 8 as the track will present a full racing program that will feature Pro (Crate) Late Models, Open Wheel Modifieds, KDRA Super Stocks, Stock Four Cylinders ($600 to win), and Mini-Cup/Cyclones.

The track will begin its regular schedule of Friday night racing on Friday April 14 with the 5th Annual Spring Showdown that will feature the Ray Cook-promoted Schaeffer’s Oil Spring Nationals presented by Sunoco Race Fuels and Tennessee RV Super Center in a $4,000 to win event that evening, along with racing in all other divisions.

Ponderosa Speedway is located at 365 Phillips Lane on the Boyle/Lincoln County border, outside of Junction City, KY, just minutes from Danville, KY. Jamie Stumph is the track promoter.
