Ponderosa Speedway Opens 2017 with Brucebilt Modifieds $2,000 to win SATURDAY April 1
Junction City, KY (March 17, 2017)- Ponderosa Speedway track promoter Jamie Stumph and co-owner Larry Redenivs are set to begin the 2017 season at the 3/8 mile D-shaped red clay oval better known as “Kentucky’s Baddest Bullring” with a special Saturday April 1 event that will kick off the 45th season of racing. The Brucebilt Performance Iron-Man Modified Division Series will headline the event with a $2,000 to win, $150 to start event, plus all other divisions will also be in action.
The track will host a pair of open practice sessions prior the season opener on Saturday April 1. The first open practice will be on Saturday March 25 from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m., with gates opening at Noon. The other practice will be on Friday evening March 31 from 7:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m., with gates opening at 5:00 p.m. For both open practice dates, general admission in the grandstand area will be FREE, while a pit pass will be $20.
The Brucebilt Performance Iron-Man Modified Division Series will be in action in a full program of practice, time trials, qualifying heats, B-mains, and a 30 lap, $2,000 to win/$150 to start A-Main contest. Joining the Brucebilt Performance Iron-Man Modified Division Series at the track’s 45th annual season opener on Saturday April 1 will be the track’s Pro (Crate) Late Models racing for $1,000 to win, KDRA Super Stocks racing for $750 to win, Stock Four Cylinder will race for additional to win money at $600 to win, and Mini-Cup/Cyclones racing for $100 to win. All divisions will utilize the practice/time trials combo format to determine heat race starting positions. The track utilizes transponder timing/scoring and transponder rental will be $10 and RACEceivers are mandatory for use in all divisions each time a driver is on the track. The entry fee for the Modified division is $50.
Activities for the 45th Annual Season Opener on Saturday April 1 will see the pit area and general admission area open at 3:00 p.m. The drivers meeting will be at 6:30 p.m., with practice/time trial combo laps set to begin at 6:50 p.m., while the first race will take the green flag at 8:00 p.m. All times EDT. Ticket prices for the April 1 season opening event at Ponderosa Speedway in the general admission area will be $15 for adults, with children ages 12 and under FREE. A pit pass will be $35, with children ages 6 to 12 $15, while children ages 5 and under FREE.
