Brucebilt Iron-Man Open Wheel Modified Series Sets Tire Rule for Remainder of 2017

SOMERSET, KY (March 21, 2017)-- Officials with the Brucebilt Performance Iron-Man Open Wheel Modified Series have announced the 2017 Tire Rule which begins at the second points race coming up on Saturday April 1st at Ponderosa Speedway.

Ponderosa Speedway hosted a tire test on Monday afternoon with representatives from both Hoosier Racing Tire and American Race Tires present. The tour will follow the same tire rule that has also been set by Ponderosa (Ky.) Speedway and Richmond (Ky.) Raceway.

The tire rule for both the Open Wheel Modified will be as follows: Tires: (some compounds are discontinued by the manufacturer, but are listed due to some still in use by drivers)

Front Tires (siping allowed on front due to carry-over from 2016 season)- Hoosier: Medium, A40S, M-30s, A40, Hard, H40, & M-60 (“D”, Medium 100 & 200 Not Allowed); American Racer: Medium, Hard, & Extra Hard

Rear Tires (the only siping of rear tires will be: Hoosier M-60 & American Racer Ex Hard)- Hoosier Tires: A40S, M-30S, A40, Hard, H40, & M-60; American Racer: Hard, & Extra Hard (No Grooving Allowed).

SPECIAL NOTE: Beginning with 2018 racing season, the following tire rule will go into effect: Front and Rear: Hoosier: M-30S and M-60 or American Racer: Hard & Extra Hard. These will be the ONLY Tires Allowed in 2018).

The Brucebilt Performance Iron-Man Open Wheel Modified Series will host the second points racing event of the season on Saturday April 1st at Ponderosa Speedway in Junction City, Ky. paying $2,000-to-win and $150-to-start.
