Sorry to be dumb, but I thought these crate engines were around $4,000 out of the crate. Make all the racer run the same engine from the factory, and no rebuild just replace if they are around $4,000.

That was the way it was supposed of been in the beginning but tracks an sanctioning bodies started let team's do this an that an now look where we're at.

4995 out of the crate bare for a 604 when they first started selling them. Then you have headers carb distributor fuel pump water pump fan belts steering pump plugs wires etc. Ppl are spending tons of money for an extra 10 or 15 hp. Reverse mount steering and fuel pumps to keep the load of that off the actual motor and put it on the shaft. Some guys are running two blade fans to reduce drag by half instead of a 4 blade fan. Literally squeezing a lemon trying to get the last drop out of it.
