Dennis Erb, Jr. Lands in Top Five at Duck River; Prepares for Bad Boy 98

(CARPENTERSVILLE, ILLINOIS) The Dennis Erb Racing team tackled a trio of lucrative Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series showdowns from March 31-April 2 in the states of Georgia, Alabama, and Tennessee. Things kicked off on Friday night at Boyd's Speedway in Ringgold, Georgia, as a $10,000 top prize was up for grabs at the Chattanooga-area facility. Dennis Erb, Jr. ran seventh in his stacked heat race and fourth in his B-Main prior to receiving a series provisional to gain access into the 50-lapper. After starting the feature from the inside of the twelfth row, Dennis methodically worked his way past twelve competitors on his way to a steady eleventh place performance.

On Saturday evening, the historic East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City, Alabama took center stage, as the annual 'Alabama Shootout' boasted a $12,000 winner's check. Dennis placed third in his stacked heat race and was in the seventh position when he crossed underneath the checkered flag following sixty green flag racing laps in the feature. In the $10,000 to win weekend finale at Duck River Raceway Park in Wheel, Tennessee on Sunday, Dennis timed in sixth quickest overall in qualifying, won his loaded heat race, and later knocked down a strong fifth place effort in the 50-lap headliner, as he trailed only winner Don O'Neal, Scott Bloomquist, Tanner English, and Brandon Overton at the checkers.

The Carpentersville, Illinois hotshoe now finds himself eighth in the latest version of the heated LOLMDS point standings exiting the tripleheader weekend. Full results can be accessed online at www.lucasdirt.com.

“It was a pretty decent weekend for us and I’m glad the weather cooperated so we could get all three races in the books,” commented the soft-spoken Erb this week via telephone. “We had to come from the back at Boyd’s and you couldn’t really race a lot at Phenix City. Then at Duck River on Sunday, I feel like we had a top three car until I hit a hole and pushed, which allowed a couple of cars to get past me to wind up fifth. We will keep plugging away and working hard to hopefully be in contention for the win this weekend in Batesville!”

Following the hectic weekend, the #28 team will now turn their focus to the annual running of the ‘Bad Boy 98’ on April 7-8 at Batesville Motor Speedway in Locust Grove, Arkansas. Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series qualifying and heat races will be held at the lightning-fast 3/8-mile oval on Friday evening, while consolation races and the 98-lap main event will thrill fans in the Batesville-area on Saturday night. A whopping $20,000 payday will be on the line once again in the ‘Bad Boy 98.’ Dennis charged from near the back to finish eighth in last year’s edition of the Batesville biggie.
