For the 4th consecutive year the FUEL Racing Series heads south this Saturday night to Gaffney, South Carolina’s Cherokee Speedway to kick off its season. Several series veterans and some new faces are expected as CT525 and Steel Block Late Model drivers across the southeast prepare to battle for 40 laps and a $3000 payday at The Place Your Mama Warned You About!

Jonathan Edwards captured the 2016 Series Championship as Matt Long prevailed in a 3-way battle for the runner-up spot in the championship standings over Deleware’s Robbie Emory and South Carolina’s Steve Banal. Long, Ross Bailes, and Willie Milliken were the only drivers that captured 2 victories in 2016 as the 12 race schedule delivered 9 different feature winners.

The 2017 campaign currently has 11 events scheduled as series officials look to finalize the terms of 2 additional events in the coming days Some teams have already flexed their muscle in early season competition. Timbo Mangum scored a victory at Cherokee while Edwards and Bryan Mullis have added 2017 Limited Late Model wins at Carolina Speedway to their résumé.

Klotz Synthetics Time Trials, Renegade Racing Fuels Dash, Hoosier Racing Tire & JRi Shocks Heat Races, and the City Chevrolet Performance Main Event await the teams on Saturday April 8th at Cherokee Speedway. Who will prevail in the 40 Lap Main Event and which newcomer will take the early lead in the race for FK Rod Ends Rookie of the Year?

Technical Inspection is scheduled to open at 4:30PM and the FUEL Racing Series Drivers Meeting is set for 6:45PM.
