While some shorter races can be good, shorter races don't give drivers enough time to work their way forward if they get a bad starting position. Longer races also have track changes, which can provide more lead changes. In the 90's Hav-A-Tampa ran 100 lap features and was the premier series. That has now been watered down to half as many laps. These series and tracks keep taking away from what the fans want to see, and the bleachers are showing the result of that compared to what attendance was 20 years ago......

Inverted starts and 50 lappers spread the points and pay around. Put some $$$ into qualifying and the heats to give the underfunded teams a shot at making some $$$... Maybe they could afford to run more races in a series...

IMO, the less full grandstands have a lot more to do with no kids at the races over the past 20 years. There are no new fans to replace the ones that die off, get bored or physically just can't climb the stands anymore.

Every sport is seeing it too, not just racing. NFL, NBA, NHL are all seeing attendance declines. MLB is the only one trending upward and it has to do with them always being a "family" sport where you bring your kids to the ballpark and they had giveawyas and hooked those kids that now young adults with families.

Racing ran off my generation and the generation after me away from the tracks on purpose because promotors didn't want to be babysitters in the 1980's and 1990's. They didn't see the "Value" in kids that get in free or nearly free for weekly races. They are seeing what happens when you run off a generation now when that generation has the $$ to take their family they take them somewhere else.

Sorry, but everybody doesn't get a trophy!

You want too pay them all less than one grand for a regular show? The gates will close.

I loved the 100 lap HAT races. I even liked the 2 day formats. Some of my favorite times as a teenager were going to Dixie for the HAT Shootout. Friday Qualifying and heats, spend Saturday at the movies or go-karts, then heading over Saturday night for the consolation races and the big 100 lap feature.....for 50,000+
