SOUTHERN ALL STAR DIRT RACING SERIES PR#6

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Southern All Stars Developing Touring Series Drivers For the Future

FAYETTEVILLE, TN—The Southern All Star Dirt Racing Series opened it’s 34th year of operation with kind of a different approach as the season starting falling in place as new and young drivers were interested in hitting the road and seeing what it is like to travel to different places and race on different types of tracks and maybe learn how to be able to advance their racing and make that move someday to the national dirt late model tours.

The Southern All Stars is looking at it this way, we have got to get new people involved in the sport and there has to be some kind of developmental program that give the young guys a chance to hit the road and not cost them and arm & leg and race to gain experience if they would like to further their racing career down the road.

This year the Southern All Star has probably one of its most diverse following of drivers since the early days of the series when it was then under the NASCAR banner, this year the series has it’s taste of veterans in the mix Casey Roberts has three wins so far this season, Bo Shirley of Gadsden, AL., 4 time Southern All Star Champion Clint Smith of Senoia, GA., and longtime veteran southeast race Gar (not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word)son of Flintstone, GA., are currently running the series and they are more than willing to help the new guys along the way as they know these guys are the next in line to be the series regulars.

This year several new faces to the world of touring dirt late models has emerged with the series, first is Austin Horton of Newnan, GA., a 3rd generation driver racing his grandfathers famous #16 Austin came up through the go karts, hobby, bomber, LLM, Crates and now supers, and has wins at Dixie Speedway, Senoia Raceway and at West Georgia. Horton currently sits third in series points and is coming off his best finish in the last event at Cochran Motor Speedway.

Tristan Sealy of Moultrie, GA., is also new to the series this season as he is tacking on the travel of the road, which did not start out so good as in the season opening race he lost two cars, but was back and ready for the series stop on Florida. Sealy has won 2 track championship at the Albany Motor Speedway, as well as a Southern Thunder Tour event at Needmore Speedway, Tristan is the son of Charles Sealy won numbers NLMS and LLM events throughout south Georgia tracks, Cochran, 441, Swiansboro and Thunder Ridge.

T J Reaid of Acworth, GA., is out of the new bunch that probably knows more than anybody about the road as he raced asphalt for seven years before switching to dirt in 2016 full time. Reaid has won numerous events at many tracks across the southeast and has one of the biggest wins in asphalt short track racing the All American 400 at Nashville, that ranks only second to the Snowball Derby in Pensacola on the asphalt side of racing, but T J moved to dirt because of the availability of track close to his house and the cost factor is not as great as asphalt racing. T J has been going to some new places and learning a lot of things and different type surfaces, he currently sits 6th in series points. T J will have his good days and bad days but he is also getting some valuable learning experience traveling on the road.

Eric Hickerson of Linden, TN., is another new comer to the series in 2017 and is getting his first real taste of the road as he missed the opening event by one spot at Cherokee Speedway, then when the series went to Southern Raceway in Florida his tow truck broke down in Birmingham and he got to the track as the B Mains were pulling on the track and raced his way into the feature, he has two top tens so far this year. Hickerson has been racing around the middle Tennessee area over the years and has wins at Tennessee National, Thunderhill Raceway, Duck River Speedway and Winchester Speedway to name a few, he will be a strong contender in 2017.

Last but not least at tackling the road this year is J R Mosley of Columbus, GA., J R has been around the east Alabama, north central Georgia racing scene for a few years and has raced numerous times and won at East Alabama Motor Speedway as well as other tracks across the southeast. Jr is currently 9th in points and is planning on competing the entire tour in 2017.

The 2017 season so far for the Southern All Stars has been good and with the interest shown by attracting new drivers to tour with the series and develop the knowledge of what it take to race on the road as well as develop crew guys to also be on the road is what the regional series do as they prepare drivers who want to move up to the more national stage.

The next Southern All Stars vent will be Saturday night April 29th at the Smoky Mt Speedway in Maryville, TN., the 50 lap $7,500 to win event WIMZ 103.5 Rockin With The Stars event.
