Jeep Van Wormer Kicks Off Season in Eldora Speedway Opener

(PINCONNING, MICHIGAN) Jeep Van Wormer and his #55 team lifted the lid to their 2017 campaign on Saturday evening, April 15 at the famed Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio. The American Late Model Series (ALMS) presided over the action at the storied 1/2-mile, high-banked speedplant and a $2,000 top prize was up for grabs.

Jeep, who is the second-winningst driver in ALMS tour history with 34 career feature wins, knocked down the ninth quickest lap during qualifying prior to placing fifth in his stacked heat race. The Pinconning, Michigan ace then rolled off on the freshly-watered surface from the outside of the fifth row in the 25-lap sprint, but unfortunately got into the wall on the first circuit and was an early retiree with heavy damage to his Brucebilt machine. Jeep was later paid for a fifteenth place performance in his season opener at Eldora Speedway. Full results can be viewed by clicking on www.eldoraspeedway.com.

The #55 team has announced that they will enjoy the upcoming April 21-22 weekend away from the racetrack and are not sure when they will sling dirt next at this time. Jeep and Iron Motorsports are committed to running the crown jewel events at the “Big E,” but have not released any schedule dates past that at this time.
