I think national touring burned him out both emotionally and financially. He elected to go make real money instead, and as I understand it, he's making a lot of it. He's not exactly a young man anymore, and having a healthy near egg for retirement is the smart decision.

That said, I wouldn't be surprised if he returned to racing at some point. He keeps a website going for whatever reason.
