    Default New NASCAR drivers..

(Been here off and on for years just couldn't remember info to login)Late model driver- best a 3rd place finishStreet stock driver- multiple winsKart racer- tons of winsOk on to the post... carl Edwards may be gone we don't know yet, dale jr gonne, tony gone, the labontes gone, the list just goes on and on. What is your guys opinion of the new drivers in the series? Some have great talent sure... but zero personality and they are starting to all resemble horse jockey size... is this a phenomenon where they are all tiny? Next year Kyle Busch and Kevin harvick may be only people that show any personality at all. Jimmie Johnson is awesome sure but he is soooo pc.. thoughts on how NASCAR is changing?

I pay attention to a select few NASCAR drivers, those with the dirt open wheel backgrounds, to be specific. It seems that your observation that the newer drivers are of smaller stature has some validity. There was a day when the cars took far more driver strength and stamina. Guys such as Kyle Larson would not have the bulk and upper body strength to muscle a 4000 lb. stock car around a place like Darlington for 400 or 500 miles. Power steering and driver air conditioning have changed that situation.

This "personality" discussion comes up from time to time. It may be that acting like a total mannerless a$$hole is lauded as "personality". The number of fans who enjoy watching and listening to mannerless a$$holes seem to be growing. Now, we may differ on the semantics but it boils down to the same thing. Richard Petty, David Pearson, Bobby Allison and Cale Yarborough had "personality" but they weren't mannerless a$$holes. For those who prefer the mannerless a$$hole character trait that's fine, but call it what it is and admit that is what is preferred.

To say that Jimmie Johnson is too PC would be like saying that the Pope is too religious. It's a case where Jimmie is a genuine nice human being and was taught well from a very young age that manners and dignity are an important character virtue and acting like a mannerless a$$hole is neither necessary or a good thing. The icing on the cake is that he's the best driver of this, or possibly any, era.
