Eastaboga, AL – The NeSmith Dirt Late Model Series returns to action for Rounds #3 and 4 of the 2017 National Touring Season this Friday and Saturday night May 5th and 6th with a Double Header at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL. Friday May 5th will feature a $2,000 to win 40 Lap Main Event followed on Saturday with a $2,500 to win 50 Lap Main Event. The back-to-back shows are a part of the first of two weekends in 2017 which Talladega Short Track will race as the Talladega Super Speedway hosts NASCAR events just across the street at the Talladega Super Speedway.

The NASCAR events at Talladega Super Speedway draw fans from around the world which venture over to TST on Friday and Saturday night allowing drivers the opportunity to showcase their talents and the sport of dirt track racing. Along with the fans and the exciting atmosphere that is always the norm for “The Hornet’s Nest”, there are many of racing’s biggest names roaming through the pit area as well.

The 2017 racing season is a special one for the staff and owners of Talladega Short Track as they celebrate their 40th Anniversary season. The 1/3rd mile, high banked track affectionately called “The Hornet’s Nest” is well known for the close quarters, ultra-exciting racing action that brings fans and drivers back for more. Another special celebration that will be recognized during the NASCAR Weekend Double Header will honor one of racing’s greatest drivers and a hero to many – Charles “Red” Farmer. Red celebrates his 70th Anniversary Season of racing during 2017 and what better way to do it than competing with the NeSmith Dirt Late Model Series. Red picked up a heat race win in 2017 and contends for wins weekly at TST in the NeSmith Weekly Racing Series.

With the 2017 Season Opening weekend in the books for the series, 2016 NeSmith Dirt Late Model Series National Champion Cory Hedge(not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word) leads the National Points heading into Talladega. Hedge(not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word) has a good start at defending his Championship, but there are a host of drivers that hope to unseat the Loudon, TN hot shoe. As the battle for the National Championship rages, the 2017 Cruise with the Champions Rookie of the Year honors will be a battle to watch. With a stacked field of young racers looking to make their mark and launch their careers, the competition amongst them will be hot as they head to TST.

Along with the NeSmith Dirt Late Model Series, a complete racing program will take place on Friday AND Saturday night. Friday will see action in the NeSmith Dirt Late Model Series($2,000 to win), Super Late Models($2,000 to win), Sportsman(LLM), NeSmith Late Model Sportsman, ThunderCar, NeSmith Street Stocks, and Hot Shots. Then on Saturday night the Southern All Stars Super Late Model Series pays $4,000 to win and joins the NeSmith Dirt Late Model Series ($2,500 to win), Sportsman(LLM), NeSmith Late Model Sportsman, ThunderCar, NeSmith Street Stocks and Hot Shots.

BOTH Friday and Saturday night’s races for the NeSmith Late Model Sportsman and NeSmith Street Stocks will count towards NeSmith National Points as they will be a make-up of the Week 5 Rain Out.

For both Friday and Saturday’s events Gates will open at 3 P.M. Driver’s Meeting is scheduled for 6 P.M. with Hot laps and racing to follow. NeSmith Racing Technical Inspection and Registration will open at 3 P.M.

For fans that can’t make the trip to TST for the NASCAR Weekend Double, the folks with the FNN Network will be carrying all the action LIVE on Pay-Per-View. Their broadcast will begin with Thursday night Go-Kart action and continue with Friday and Saturday night’s Stock Car events.
