Jimmy Mars Heads to Iowa for MLRA Triple Shot Following Cedar Lake Runner-Up

(MENOMONIE, WISCONSIN) Jimmy Mars and his #28 team were in Late Model competition at two area venues over the April 28-29 weekend, as they invaded Red Cedar Speedway in Menomonie, Wisconsin and Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, Wisconsin for a pair of weekly shows. On Friday night at Red Cedar, Jimmy won his heat race in preliminary action and later started the $1,000 to win headliner from the outside of the third row. With passing at a premium throughout the distance, Jimmy would move up to fifth before the unfurling of the checkers to finish behind only winner John Kaanta, Rick Hanestad, Jake Redetzke, and Darrell Nelson.

At Cedar Lake on Saturday evening, a $1,200 top prize was on the line for the NASCAR Late Model division. Jimmy ran second in his heat race and later rolled off from the outside of the fourth row in the A-Main. The Menomonie, Wisconsin star then blitzed past six competitors during the feature distance to claim an impressive runner-up showing behind only victor and fellow MB Customs driver Steve Laursen. Full results from both Badger State facilities can be accessed online at www.redcedarspeedway.com and www.cedarlakespeedway.com.

Weather permitting, Mars Racing has a trio of Lucas Oil MLRA Series specials on their radar from May 4-6 in the Hawkeye State of Iowa. A $3,000 to win program will be held on Thursday at Lee County Speedway in Donnellson, on Friday at Davenport Speedway in Davenport, and on Saturday at Independence Motor Speedway in Independence. These events will mark the first time that Jimmy has jumped behind the wheel of his potent Super Late Model since the conclusion of the ‘Wild West Shootout’ in Arizona back in January.
