Cory Hedgec ock Conquers the Hornet’s Nest

Loudon, Tennessee (05/08/17) – Cory Hedgec ock conquered the NeSmith Dirt Late Model Series event at Talladega Short Track on Saturday night in his Cushman #23 Valley Transport Rocket Chassis Crate Late Model. The triumph at the track known as the “Hornet’s Nest” marked his eighth win of 2017.

After losing Friday’s $2,500-to-win, weekend opener to rain, Cory Hedgec ock returned to Talladega Short Track (Eastaboga, Alabama) on Saturday, pulling double duty in both the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series and the Southern All Star Series.

Laying down the fastest time overall in a stout field of 52 NeSmith Crate Late Models, Hedgec ock earned the 2nd-starting position for the feature. Dropping back to the 3rd position early in the event, Hedgec ock reclaimed his starting spot after the leaders tangled while battling for the top spot. Waiting patiently to take over the lead, Cory jumped out in front after the race-leader broke.

He went on to cruise to his eighth win of the season, which came over Adam Cummings, Riley Hickman, Cruz Skinner, and Greg Martin. He was awarded a $2,500 payday for his triumph in the 50-lap A-Main.

In the Super Late Model ranks, Hedgec ock timed in second fastest in his group, which positioned him on the second row for the Southern All Star feature. After battling for a podium spot throughout the A-Main, Cory dropped back to 4th after getting slammed into the wall by another competitor. Hanging on to a Top-5 finish, Hedgec ock limped to a solid 4th-place finish behind Brandon Overton, Dale McDowell, and Dallas Cooper with Todd Morrow coming in 5th.

“I think we had an even better car than our finish reflected in the Southern All Star feature, but I’ll still gladly take a win and a 4th,” Hedgec ock commented. “As always I want to dedicate this win to my awesome team and sponsors.”
