Jason Hughes Scores West Texas Loot; Four-Day Swing Next

Westville, Oklahoma (05/09/17) – Jason Hughes picked up his third win of 2017 on Friday night in his Henryetta Ford #12 Hughes Chassis/ Mullins Racing Engine Modified. The $3,000 victory came with the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) at West Texas Raceway (Lubbock, Texas).

Back with the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) Summit Racing Equipment Southern Region presented by Production Jars, Jason Hughes traveled to Southern Oklahoma Speedway (Ardmore, Oklahoma) on Thursday night. Passing five cars in his 8-lap heat, Hughes reeled in a 3rd-place finish, earning him the 7th-starting spot for the opening night A-Main. Working his way into a Top-5 finish, Jason improved three positions to place 4th behind Stormy Scott, Cade Dillard, and Zack VanderBeek with R.C. Whitwell coming in 5th.

The following night in a field of 32 cars at West Texas Raceway (Lubbock, Texas) , Jason started the night with a heat race win, locking him into the 5th-starting position for the feature. Wheeling his way to his third win of the season, Jason Hughes paced his way to the front in the 40-lapper, scoring the $3,000 payday over Ryan Gustin, R.C. Whitwell, Joe Duvall, and Stormy Scott.

Wrapping up the USMTS Summit Racing Southern Region presented by Production Jars weekend action on Saturday at Route 66 Motor Speedway (Amarillo, Texas), Jason Hughes was one of 30 cars registered for the 8th annual Amarillo Ambush. Jumping up two positons in his heat race, Jason landed a 2nd-place finish behind Austin Bonner, which positioned him on the pole for the A-Main. Slipping seven positions in the 40-lap affair, Jason Hughes logged an 8th-place outing.

This week will be an ultra-busy time for the team as they prepare to embark on four USMTS events. Action opens on Wednesday evening at Heart O’ Texas Speedway (Waco, Texas) before moving to Superbowl Speedway (Greenville, Texas) on Thursday night.
