Jimmy Mars Continues Consistent Start to 2017 Season with Trio of Top Fives in Iowa!

(MENOMONIE, WISCONSIN) The Mars Racing team continued their consistent start to the 2017 campaign over the May 4-6 weekend in a trio of Lucas Oil MLRA Series special events in Iowa. Things kicked off in the Hawkeye State on Thursday night at Lee County Speedway in Donnellson, Iowa. Jimmy Mars placed second in heat race action and later climbed up to third in the $3,000 to win main event. At the conclusion of the 40-lapper, Jimmy found himself on the podium behind only victor Chris Simpson and runner-up Tony Jackson, Jr.

Two more $3,000 to win MLRA showdowns then took center stage at Davenport Speedway in Davenport, Iowa and Independence Motor Speedway in Independence, Iowa. On Friday evening on the 1/4-mile oval at Davenport, Jimmy finished third in his heat race prior to advancing once again up to third in the 40-lap headliner to trail only race winner Bobby Pierce and runner-up Chris Simpson. In Saturday's weekend finale at Independence, the Menomonie, Wisconsin superstar ran third in his heat race and fifth in the caution-free feature behind only victor Billy Moyer, Rodney Sanders, Chris Simpson, and Brent Larson. Up first will be a $3,000 to win shootout on Thursday at FCR leading into Friday’s lucrative ‘Farmer City 74,’ which boasts a whopping $20,000 top prize.
