Saturated Grounds Postpones KDRA Spring Fling at Richmond Raceway

Richmond, KY (May 12, 2017)- Richmond Raceway was set to present the KDRA Spring Fling for the KDRA Super Stocks on Saturday evening May 12, however, rains overnight on Thursday and rains all throughout the day on Friday have left the track and grounds saturated with rainfall and track officials have been forced to postpone the KDRA Spring Fling event. The make-up date has not been set as of this time, but will be announced at a later date.

Richmond Raceway’s next event will be the 1st Annual Mike Roland Memorial on Saturday May 20, with the event being co-sanctioned by the Schaeffer’s Southern Nationals Bonus Series presented by Sunoco Race Fuels and Tennessee RV and the Schaeffer’s Iron-Man Championship Series. The event will feature a full program for the Super Late Models that will include practice, time trials, qualifying heats, B-Mains, and the 50 laps, $10,000 to win/$500 to start Mike Roland Memorial A-Main. Also in action on May 20 will be the Brucebilt Performance Iron-Man Modified Series racing 25 laps for $1,200 to win and $110 to start. Completing the Mike Roland Memorial racing card on Saturday May 20 will be the track’s KDRA Super Stocks racing for $750 to win and Stock Four Cylinders racing for $500 to win. All divisions, except for Super Late Models, will utilize the practice/time trial combo format to determine heat race starting positions. Richmond Raceway also uses transponder timing/scoring and the rental fee for a transponder is $10. RACEceivers are also mandatory and must be is use by drivers anytime they are in their cars out on the track. Also of note, drivers are encouraged to arrive early and need to be at the track no later than 5:30 p.m. if possible.

Also of note for the Mike Roland Memorial event, the track will host an open practice session on Friday May 19 for all divisions. Gates will open at 5:00 p.m. for the open practice and practice laps will take place from 7:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. Admission will be free in the main grandstand area, while a pit pass will be $20 for the practice.


Activities for the Saturday May 20 Mike Roland Memorial event at Richmond Raceway will see the pit area open at 2:00 p.m., with the general admission area gates set to open at 3:30 p.m. The drivers meeting will take place at 5:45 p.m., with practice/time trial laps set to get underway at 6:15 p.m., and the first green flag to start the racing action will wave at 7:30 p.m. All times EDT. Ticket prices for the Mike Roland Memorial event at Richmond Raceway on Saturday May 20 in the general admission area will be $25 for adults, with children ages 12 and under admitted free. A pit pass will cost $45, with children ages 6 to 12 $15, and children ages 5 and under free.
