Manhattan, Kansas (05/17/17) – Chase Junghans debuted his brand-new Shop Quik Convenience Stores #18 Bozard Ford Lincoln Rocket Chassis XR1/ Clements Racing Engine Super Late Model over the weekend in Illinois. He would record a trio of Top-10 finishes, which included a pair of Top-5 runs.

Making his debut behind the wheel of his brand new Shop Quik #18 Rocket Chassis XR1 Super Late Model, Chase Junghans invaded Farmer City Speedway (Farmer City, Illinois) on Thursday night for the opening round of the inaugural Farmer City 74. Drawing 48 cars for the two-day MARS DIRTcar Series sanctioned weekend, Junghans followed up the 5th-fastest time in his qualifying group with a 2nd-place finish in his heat race behind Billy Moyer. Earning the 9th-starting position for the opening night A-Main, Chase slipped one spot to finish 10th.

The following night against a field of 58 Super Late Models, Junghans scored another 2nd-place finish in his heat race behind Shannon Babb, positioning him 7th on the starting grid for the $20,000-to-win A-Main. Breaking into the Top 5, Chase jumped three spots in the 74-lapper notching a 4th-place finish behind Bobby Pierce, Shannon Babb, and Mike Marlar with Frank Heckenast Jr. rounding out the Top 5.

Closing out the three-day MARS DIRTcar Series sanctioned weekend, Junghans traveled to Fairbury American Legion Speedway (Fairbury, Illinois) on Saturday night to compete in the annual FALS Frenzy. With a stout field of 54 Super Late Models registered for competition, Chase posted a runner-up finish in his heat race behind Darrell Lanigan, which locked him into the 8th-starting spot for the main event. With $10,000 on the line, Chase Junghans quickly advanced on the opening lap and would take the lead on lap 2.

Junghans paced the field until a lap 25 restart, when Dennis Erb Jr. took over the top spot. Over the remainder of the event Junghans challenged for the lead before settling for a runner-up finish, which marked his best finish of 2017. Ryan Unzicker, Don O’Neal, and Chris Ferguson completed the Top 5 finishers in the 50-lapper.

“It was a pretty spectacular weekend for our team,” Junghans said. “We just finished this car on Wednesday in West Virginia and then bolted over here for these shows. To contend for wins right off the bat is pretty exciting. Thanks to my team for busting their tails to get this car done, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds.”
