Jimmy Mars Grabs Top Five in Farmer City 74 Opener; Pair of Lucas Oil Specials Next

(MENOMONIE, WISCONSIN) Jimmy Mars and his #28 team ventured to the Land of Lincoln from May 11-13 for a MARS Dirt Car Series triple shot, which kicked off with the inaugural 'Farmer City 74' at Farmer City Raceway in Farmer City, Illinois. On Thursday night in the $3,000 to win opener, Jimmy tripped the clock quickest in Group A during qualifying prior to scoring the victory in his heat race. After starting from the pole position in the 35-lapper, Jimmy hung around the front of the stellar field before eventually bringing home a strong fourth place performance behind only victor Shannon Babb, Mason Zeigler, and Billy Moyer!

At Farmer City on Friday evening, a whopping $20,000 top prize was on the line in the 'Farmer City 74.' Jimmy ran second in heat race action to transfer into the 74-lap main event, but a flat right front tire sent him pitside early in the race and relegated him to twenty-seventh in the final finishing order. On Saturday in the weekend finale at Fairbury American Legion Speedway in Fairbury, Illinois, a $10,000 winner's check was up for grabs in the annual running of 'FALS Frenzy.' The Menomonie, Wisconsin star placed second in his loaded heat race before notching a seventeenth place effort in the 50-lap headliner. Full results from both Illinois bullrings can be viewed online at www.farmercityracing.com and www.fairburyspeedway.com.

The Mars Racing team will now turn their focus to a pair of Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series specials over the May 19-20 weekend in the states of Wisconsin and Minnesota. The elite national touring series will make their first-ever stop at Luxemburg Speedway in Luxemburg, Wisconsin on Friday night for the $10,000 to win ‘Spring Shootout.’ The doubleheader with the LOLMDS will then wrap up on Saturday evening at Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley, Minnesota, as a $12,000 payday awaits the victor of the ‘NAPA North Star Nationals.’ Jimmy has three career series victories to his credit and would love to add to his impressive resume this weekend in the Upper Midwest.
