    Ponderosa Speedway’s Red Clay Bash/Friday Night Thunder Goes Friday May 26

    Junction City, KY (May 14, 2017)- Ponderosa Speedway track promoter Jamie Stumph and co-owner Larry Redenius will have the 3/8-mile D-shaped red clay oval better known as “Kentucky’s Baddest Bullring” back in action in a big way with the track’s 5th Annual Red Clay Bash on Friday May 26 as the MARS East Dirt Car Series for Super Late Models will be in action for $3,000 to win, along with the Friday Night Thunder for KDRA Super Stocks that will pay $1,200 to win. There will also be a full racing program for Pro (Crate) Late Models, Open Wheel Modifieds, Stock Four Cylinders, and Mini-Cup/Cyclones.

    The 5th Annual Red Clay Bash will take place on Friday May 26 and will feature the MARS East Dirt Car Series Super Late Models in their first-ever appearance at Ponderosa Speedway in a full program of practice, time trials, qualifying heats, B-Mains, and the $3,000 to win 5th Annual Red Clay Bash A-Main. Also in competition on Friday May 26 will be the KDRA Super Stocks in the Friday Night Thunder event that was postponed a couple of weeks back and they will race for $1,200 to win. Completing the racing program at Ponderosa Speedway on Friday May 26 will be the track’s Pro (Crate) Late Models racing for $800 to win, Open Wheel Modifieds racing for $700 to win, Stock Four Cylinders racing for $300 to win, and Mini-Cup/Cyclones racing for $100 to win. All division, expect for Super Late Models, will utilize the practice/time trial combo format to determine heat race starting positions. Transponder timing/scoring is used at Ponderosa Speedway and the rental fee for a transponder is $10. RACEceivers are also mandatory and are required to be in use each a competitor is on the track.

    The MARS East Dirt Car Series will sanction the Super Late Model portion of the Red Clay Bash/Friday Night Thunder racing program on Friday May 26. The entry fee for Super Late Models will be $100 and the tire rule will be as follows: Hoosier LM20, LM40, 1350, 1600 and American Racer 48 and 56. All drivers not transferring to the main event will receive $100 tow money.

    Activities for the 5th Annual Red Clay Bash at Ponderosa Speedway on Friday May 26 will see the pit area and general admission area gates open at 4:00 p.m. The drivers meeting will take place at 7:00 p.m., followed immediately by practice, Super Late Model time trials, and green flag racing. Ticket prices for the 5th Annual Red Clay Bash in the general admission area will be $20 for adults, with children ages 12 and under free. A pit pass will be $35, with children ages 6 to 12 in the pit area $15, and children in the pit area ages 5 and under free.
