The NeSmith Dirt Late Model Series is set to invade two of the raciest tracks in the country over the Memorial Day Weekend with stops at Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS for the 2nd Annual Southern Crate Late Model Nationals this Thursday through Saturday, May 25th-27th, highlighted by the 75 lap, $5,000 to win NeSmith Dirt Late Model Series feature and then closing out the weekend on Sunday at Johnny Stokes’ Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS. The two facilities are known to fans and drivers alike for their ultra-competitive, and very different, racing surfaces.

Thursday-Saturday will see action at Whynot Motorsports Park, where the track is affectionately known as “The House of Hook”. Southern red clay and 3 and 4 wide racing are the norm that will test man and machine with lightning quick speeds and “elbows up” racing. Then the weekend is capped on Sunday at Magnolia Motor Speedway which is known as “Home of the Black Ice” which references the wide black, slick surface that will see cars fan out 4 and 5 wide and test drivers ability to handle the tricky, slippery surface. While the surfaces vary, the racing at each facility is second to none and equally exciting.

Whynot Motorsports Park will start things off, and an added bonus for the weekend, will be offering FREE Grandstand Admission for Friday night’s portion of the event. This is an unheard of move that will allow the great fans to visit Whynot Motorsports Park and see Friday night action which will include Qualifying and Heat Race action for the NeSmith Dirt Late Model Series PLUS a FULL RACING Program in all other divisions for absolutely no cost. Also on Friday night Kids are encouraged to bring their bicycles and Power Wheels as they will get chance to hit the track for Bicycle and Power Wheel Races during intermission.

Following Friday night’s action, it all culminates with the BIG EVENT on Saturday May 27th with B-Mains and the 75 lap, $5,000 to win 2nd Annual Southern Crate Late Model Nationals Main Event as well as another FULL RACING Program for local divisions. A bonus is being offered to local division drivers that are able to pick up the win on both Friday and Saturday night sweetening the pot for those competitors.

It all will kick off on Thursday night May 25th with Open Practice from 6-10 P.M. which will allows drivers to get their cars dialed in at the track affectionately known as “The House of Hook”. Friday May 26th Gates will open at 5 P.M. with 7 P.M. Driver’s Meeting and Hot Laps scheduled for 7:30 and Racing at 8. Saturday May 27th Gates will open at 2 P.M. with Driver’s Meeting set for 6 P.M., Hot Laps at 6:30, and Racing at 7 P.M.

Following the Friday and Saturday action at Whynot, fans and competitors will make the short drive up Highway 45 North to Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS where they will host the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series on Sunday May 28th with their annual Memorial Day Weekend stop at the “Home of the Black Ice” for the running of the Salute to the Air Force 40. The 40 lap main event pays $2,000 to win for the Sunday evening affair.

The event, paying honor to the Air Force, at Magnolia Motor Speedway is only fitting because of its close proximity to the Columbus Air Force Base which has a long history of military service to our country. Along with the NeSmith Dirt Late Model Touring Division action on Sunday night, the Mag will host racing in the Super Late Model, NeSmith Street Stock, Factory Stock, and NeSmith Late Model Sportsman Divisions.

On Sunday May 28th, Pit Gates will open at 3 P.M. Grandstand Gates open at 5 P.M. Driver’s Meeting is slated fort 6:30 and Racing at 7:30 P.M.
