CARNESVILLE, GA – This Monday night’s $10,000-to-win, $500-to-start Freedom Isn’t Free 50 at Volunteer Speedway in Bulls Gap, TN will bring out the top stars for this ULTIMATE Super Late Model Series National event. The ULTIMATE Regulars, National stars, East Tennessee favorites, and more will take advantage of an extra night of racing for big bucks on the Memorial Day Weekend.

While the McCarter Family has put some big money up for grabs, they, the competitors, and the ULTIMATE officials as a group know that the Freedom Isn’t Free 50 also honors the brave men and women of our armed forces past and present who have made the ultimate sacrifice, unselfishly and unafraid, so that we all may live in a great nation as free people.

ULTIMATE Super Late Model Series South East Region point leader Jonathan Davenport of Blairsville, GA has a ten point lead in the standings over Jason Welshan of Maryville, TN and Autolite/Fram/DirtOnDirt.com Rookie of the Year point leader Tyler Millwood of Cartersville, GA, who are tied for the second spot.

The defending and two-time ULTIMATE Champion Dennis “Rambo” Franklin of Gaffney, SC is fourth and three-time ULTIMATE Champion Casey Roberts of Toccoa, GA is fifth. Brett Hamm of Newberry, SC is sixth in the point standings, and is second in the Autolite/Fram/DirtOnDirt.com Rookie of the Year point standings.

The 2011 ULTIMATE SE Champion Chris Ferguson of Mt. Holly, NC is seventh in the standings, and Brandon Overton of Evans, GA, who has two ULTIMATE wins this season, is eighth. G.R. Smith of Statesville, NC is ninth, and Michael Page of Douglasville, GA rounds out the top ten in the ULTIMATE SE point standings.

Dale McDowell of Chickamauga, GA, who picked up the ULTIMATE win earlier this year on May 7 at Rome Speedway in Rome, GA, will lead yet another star-studded list of drivers that have made their intentions know that they will also be at Volunteer Speedway this Monday night for the Freedom Isn’t Free 50.

National stars joining McDowell will be Jimmy Owens of Newport, TN, Chris Madden of Gray Court, SC, Brandon Kinzer of Lexington, KY, and Ricky Weiss of Headingly, Manitoba, Canada.

East Tennessee favorites expected include five-time Volunteer Speedway Late Model Champion Vic “The Thrill” Hill of Mosheim, TN, Billy Ogle Jr. of Knoxville, TN, Shanon Buckingham of Morristown, TN, Ryan King of Seymour, TN, Robby Moses of Maryville, TN, Chad Ogle of Sevierville, TN, Steve Smith of Powell, TN and Ellery Leake of Knoxville, TN.

The $10,000-to-win Freedom Isn’t Free 50 is a National Event for the ULTIMATE Super Late Model Series. While it is a points race for both the ULTIMATE South East Region, and the ULTIMATE Battle of the Bluegrass Region, competitors from the ULTIMATE Super Late Model Series’ two newest Regions are also invited to compete.

This National event is also on the schedule for ULTIMATE’s two newest regions, the ULTIMATE Mid-Ohio Valley Region and the ULTIMATE North East Region. They are both on an Introductory Pilot Season with no points or point fund being awarded in 2017. Both Regions will have their first full seasons in 2018.

On Monday, the gates open at 3 p.m. with ULTIMATE Super Late Model Series Pre-Race Registration from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The Drivers Meeting is set for 7 p.m., with Hot Laps scheduled for 7:15 p.m. and racing at 8 p.m.
