    Default timing chain

    anyone using a gear drive from speedway motors, if so is it holding up any problems? looking to put one in a sport mod motor just wondering if they hold up well. thanks.

    I've had one on a 372 for about 5 years no problem.

    i wouldn't risk it, get an iwis chain

    We used them back in the day because, a chain would wear out and you could use the same gear drive on several motors.I've quit because current thinking is they transmit harmonics to the cam,but alot of top of the line motors have a westmar gear drive still.

    Howards makes a nice timing set with an IWIS chain... years ago some used a GM truck gear drive that didn't use an idler.... required a reverse grind cam and dizzy gear but they worked great.

    So much of Speedway's stuff is Chinese made that I would have a tuff time buying engine parts for anything but a cheap claimer motor...

    we run one in a 383, so far its fine. On it's second season
