Rod Conley Gets Top Ten Against Outlaws at Atomic; CMI Ready for Area Tracks

(WHEELERSBURG, OHIO) Conley Motorsports, Inc. (CMI) invaded Atomic Speedway in Alma, Ohio on Friday evening, May 26 for a $10,000 to win World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series shootout. Rod Conley enjoyed the best night of the three CMI drivers, as he laid down the fourth fastest lap in Group A during the qualifying session before grabbing the fourth transfer spot through his stacked heat race. After starting the 50-lap headliner from the outside of the seventh row, "Hot Rod" was able to maneuver past a handful of competitors on his way to a steady ninth place effort.

R.J. Conley placed third in his loaded heat race and had moved up inside of the top five in the feature event before being taken out by Tyler Erb. The incident left his #71c machine battered and dropped R.J. to a disappointing seventeenth place showing. Delmas Conley - the patriarch of the racing Conley family - also finished third in heat race action before retiring early from the main event in the twenty-third position. Saturday's scheduled 2017 season lid lifter at the nearby Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, Ohio was then unfortunately washed out by Mother Nature. Full results from the Outlaws visit to the former K-C Raceway can be accessed online at www.woolms.com.

All three Conley’s will return to dirt-slinging competition this Saturday night, June 3 at area racetracks. Brothers Rod and R.J. Conley are both slated to travel to the nearby Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, Ohio for the track’s $2,000 to win season opener. Delmas Conley will instead trek north to Atomic Speedway in Alma, Ohio on Saturday for a weekly Super Late Model program, which also boasts a $2,000 winner’s check.
