Iron-Man Late Model and Modified Series Visit Lake Cumberland Speedway September 2nd

SOMERSET, KY (June 8, 2017)—The Schaeffer’s Oil Iron-Man Championship Late Model tour and the Brucebilt Performance Iron-Man Open Wheel Modified Series have added a date at Lake Cumberland Speedway in Burnside, Ky. for Saturday September 2nd.

The Harold Hardgrove Memorial/Kentucky-Tennessee Border Wars will feature the Schaeffer’s Oil Iron-Man Championship Late Models racing for $3,022-to-win and $250-to-start along with the Brucebilt Performance Iron-Man Modifieds racing for $1,000-to-win and $100-to-start. The KDRA Super Stocks will race for $700-to-win and the Four Cylinders will race for $500-to-win during the Labor Day weekend visit to Lake Cumberland Speedway.

The race at Lake Cumberland Speedway honors long-time track owner Harold Hardgrove who passed away in August of 2009. Hardgrove purchased the Lake Cumberland Speedway in the fall of 1997 before opening during his first stint as promoter in the spring of 1998. He brought back the popular Lake Cumberland Classic in 1998 in which Darrell Lanigan won the prestigious area event. Hardgrove’s largest paying Late Model race was held in November of 2002 when Johnny Wheeler claimed the $10,000-to-win Coca-Cola 100 payday.

Hardgrove also raced through the 1980’s and 1990’s dawning the # H22 which could be seen on any given race night throughout the region. His home track was Lake Cumberland Speedway, formerly Burnside Raceway. He purchased the Speedway shortly after hanging up his helmet. Harold’s son Brandon and daughter Casey currently promote the 3/8th’s mile race track located minutes south of Somerset, Ky.

This will open a double-header of action on Labor Day weekend as the Iron-Man Late Models will race on Sunday Night September 3rd at Tazewell (Tenn.) Speedway during the Buddy Rogers Memorial paying $4,400-to-win.

The Modifieds will now have a triple-header weekend visiting Crossville (Tenn.) Speedway for $1,200-to-win on Friday September 1st, Lake Cumberland Speedway for $1,000-to-win on Saturday September 2nd and Tazewell Speedway on Sunday September 3rd for $1,000-to-win.

More information on this event at Lake Cumberland Speedway will be released in the coming weeks.
