Jimmy Mars Conquers Cedar Lake for Second Victory; Looks to Dream Again at Eldora!

(MENOMONIE, WISCONSIN) Jimmy Mars recorded his second victory of 2017 in Late Model action on Saturday evening, June 3 at the renowned Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, Wisconsin! Jimmy won his heat race prior to leading the main event from flag-to-flag to bag the $1,750 payday over A.J. Diemel and Pat Doar. Behind the wheel of his own #2 Open Wheel Modified, Jimmy moved up a couple of spots during the feature event to place sixth in the final finishing order.

Earlier in the weekend, the Mars Racing team unloaded both cars on Friday night, June 2 at the nearby Red Cedar Speedway in Menomonie, Wisconsin. Jimmy moved up to fourth in his Late Model heat race before knocking down a fourth place effort in the $1,000 to win headliner. The popular driver known as the "Iceman" then ran third in his heat race and eighth in the Open Wheel Modified special at his hometown facility. Complete results from both Badger State venues can be viewed online at www.redcedarspeedway.com and www.cedarlakespeedway.com.

The #28 team is currently on the grounds at the famed Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio for the 23rd edition of the ‘Dirt Late Model Dream.’ The three-day crown jewel extravaganza at the hallowed 1/2-mile speedplant will kick off later this evening with a pair of Twin 25s – each of which will pay $5,000 to the winner. A similar show will be on the docket on Friday night at the “Big E” with $10,000 earmarked for each Twin 25 victor.

The traditional lineup of six heat races, consolation events, and the 100-lap, $100,000 to win ‘Dirt Late Model Dream’ will then thrill fans in the Buckeye State on Saturday, June 10. Jimmy has transferred into ten Dream finales during his storied career including pocketing the hefty six-figure payday in his memorable 1997 triumph.
