    Richmond Raceway Off June 24; Saturday Night Showdown Set to Go July 1

    Richmond, KY- June 18, 2017- Richmond Raceway track promoters Larry, Chad, and Sarah Yantz will have the 3/10-mile semi-banked clay oval known as “The Beast of the East” closed this Saturday June 24, but will return to action on Saturday July 1 as the track will present its 3rd Annual Saturday Night Showdown event that will pay $1,000 to win for the AR Bodies KDRA Super Stocks and $750 to win for the Baker Iron and Metal Stock Four Cylinders, plus the Sonic Late Models and Eagle Financial Services Open Wheel Modifieds will be in action, plus the Mini-Cup/Cyclones will join the racing card for action on July 1.

    There will now be NO racing at Richmond Raceway on Saturday June 24, as track co-promoter Larry Yantz will be making a trip to South Dakota to watch one of his grandchildren play in the 13U Soccer national championship event.

    Richmond Raceway will present the 3rd Annual Saturday Night Showdown on Saturday July 1 as the AR Bodies KDRA Super Stocks and Baker Iron and Metal Stock Four Cylinders will be highlighted at the event, with the KDRA Super Stocks racing for $1,000 to win and the Stock Four Cylinders racing for $750 to win. Also in action at the Saturday Night Showdown on Saturday July 1 will be the track’s Sonic Late Models racing for $1,500 to win and the Eagle Financial Services Open Wheel Modifieds racing for $1,000 to win, plus the Mini-Cup/Cyclones will be on the racing program as well, racing for $100 to win. All divisions will utilize the practice/time trial combo format to determine heat race starting positions. Richmond Raceway also uses transponder timing/scoring and the rental fee for a transponder is $10. RACEceivers are also mandatory and must be is use by drivers anytime they are in their cars out on the track. Also of note, drivers are encouraged to arrive early and need to be at the track no later than 5:30 p.m. if possible.

    Activities for the 3rd Annual Saturday Night Showdown event on Saturday July 1 at Richmond Raceway will see the pit area open at 3:00 p.m., with the general admission area gates set to open at 4:30 p.m. The drivers meeting will take place at 5:45 p.m., with practice/time trial laps set to get underway at 6:15 p.m., and the first green flag to start the racing action will wave at 7:30 p.m. All times EDT. Ticket prices and purse information for the Saturday Night Showdown will released in an upcoming press release.
