Victor Lee’s Crate Engine Deemed Legal after Protest at Ponderosa Speedway

Junction City, KY – June 18, 2017 – Ponderosa Speedway track promoter Jamie Stumph would like to release information regarding a protest made on a Pro (Crate) Late Model competitor’s engine at the track during the weekend of racing events that took place June 9 and June 10.

Victor Lee of Danville, KY, who pilots a car owned by Gene and Danny Hatcher of Campbellsville, KY in the Pro (Crate) Late Model division at Ponderosa Speedway, was protested by a fellow competitor at the track following his victory in the Friday June 9 Pro (Crate) Late Model feature event at the track. Since the track was racing again the following evening, track officials made Lee’s race team leave the car at the track and allowed him to compete in the Saturday June 10 race program, which Lee also won, and then the track pulled the engine from the car driven by Lee to have it inspected.

Ponderosa Speedway would send the engine to Eagle Race Engines in Knoxville, TN and they would do the tear down and inspection of the engine and after the engine was checked, it was found be legal in accordance to the engine guidelines set forth by the Nesmith Crate Late Model racing organization.

The next racing action at Ponderosa Speedway will take place on Friday June 23 and will see the Pro (Crate) Late Model division race for $800 to win as part of the track’s 25th Annual Kentucky Klassic that will feature the Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Bonus Series presented by Sunoco Race Fuel and Tennessee RV Super Late Models racing for $4,000 to win. Also in action will be the track’s Open Wheel Modifieds ($700 to win), KDRA Super Stocks ($600 to win), Stock Four Cylinders ($300 to win), and Mini-Cup/Cyclones ($100 to win).

Ponderosa Speedway is located at 365 Phillips Lane on the Boyle/Lincoln County border, outside of Junction City, KY, just minutes from Danville, KY. Jamie Stumph is the track promoter.
