Billy Moyer Conquers Summer Nationals Stops at Brownstown and Sycamore!

(BATESVILLE, ARKANSAS) UMP DIRTcar Summer Nationals king Billy Moyer racked up two more “Hell Tour” victories from June 14-18 to elevate his career series win total to 95! On Wednesday night in the series lid lifter at the legendary Brownstown Speedway in Brownstown, Indiana, Billy won his heat race in preliminary action prior to grabbing the point away from leader Jackie Boggs on lap 37. The Batesville, Arkansas Hall of Famer then led the final four laps to bag the $5,000 winner’s check over Cody Mahoney, Jason Jameson, Jackie Boggs, and Steve Casebolt!

Following a fifteenth place effort on Thursday at Kankakee County (IL) Speedway, Billy returned to Summer Nationals victory lane on Friday evening in the first-ever series stop to Sycamore Speedway in Maple Park, Illinois! Billy scored the victory in heat race action and passed leader Brian Shirley on lap eight to grab the top spot. The popular driver known as “Mr. Smooth” then paced the field for the remainder of the 40-lapper to lay claim to the $7,500 payday over Ryan Unzicker, Shannon Babb, Billy Drake, and Bobby Pierce!

Billy’s five-race start to the UMP Summer Nationals then wrapped up over the weekend at Peoria Speedway in Peoria, Illinois and Daugherty Speedway in Boswell, Indiana. He won heat races at both venues and in fact claimed a heat race triumph in each of the first five “Hell Tour” races. Billy then led the first fourteen circuits at Peoria on Saturday before settling for a third place podium showing in the rain-shortened event behind only winner Billy Moyer, Jr. and runner-up Bobby Pierce. On Sunday at Boswell on a rough racing surface, Billy started from the pole and ran a strong second behind only victor Shannon Babb. The Billy Moyer Racing (BMR) team is still in the Midwest and will enter at least the next four “Hell Tour” stops in the states of Illinois and Iowa from June 20-23. Billy and his #21 team are currently en route to Jacksonville Speedway in Jacksonville, Illinois for tonight’s $5,000 to win battle. Billy also plans to enter UMP DIRTcar Summer Nationals programs later in the week at Farley Speedway in Farley, Iowa, Spoon River Speedway in Banner, Illinois, and Tri-City Speedway in Granite City, Illinois. A decision will be made following Granite City on Friday whether to return back to the shop to regroup for a few days or to remain out on the grueling tour. Billy is unofficially leading the series point standings heading into Jacksonville tonight, but does not plan on running the entire 29-race gauntlet.
