Josh Rice Rallies for Summit Racing Equipment AMS Victory at Florence Speedway

Florence, KY – June 24, 2017 - The Summit Racing Equipment American Modified Series would be action at Florence Speedway in Union, KY on Saturday evening and Josh Rice of Verona, KY would make an exciting charge to the front and score a popular victory in front of his home track race fans and claim a $2,000 total payday.

Brian Shaw would take the lead at the start of the event and would settle into a battle for the race lead with current series points leader Josh Harris as the pair would dice back and forth for the lead until Harris snagged the lead in the event on lap twelve. It would be around this time that Josh Rice, who was running in the top five at the time, saw his car jump out of gear, but he would be able to get the car back in gear, but would fall back toward the rear of the field. A caution for a spin by Victor Lee on lap fourteen would slow the action, while two more cautions, one for debris on lap fifteen and another on the lap fifteen restart for a spin by Shaw would keep the field bunched together. Harris would maintain the race lead, while Rice would begin to slice and dice his way back toward the front, with a caution for a spin by John Clippinger and another for debris in the final ten circuits would keep the field close. The final restart would see Harris maintain his lead, however, Rice would charge to second and the pair would go side-by-side on the final lap of the event, with Rice able to execute a turn four, last lap pass to score the victory. Harris would settle for second, while Ryan Thomas would score a third-place finish. Rick Corbin and Trent Young, who started eighteenth, would complete the top five finishers.

The remainder of the top ten at the completion of the Summit Racing Equipment A-Main at Florence Speedway would be twenty-first starter Gabe Menser, Jeremy Owens, Kyle Schornick, Joey Kramer, and Ryan Morton.

The next events for the Summit Racing Equipment American Modified Series will be Friday June 30 at Bloomington Speedway in Bloomington, IN ($3,500 to win), Saturday July 1 at Brownstown Speedway in Brownstown, IN ($1,500 to win), Sunday July 2 at Windy Hollow Speedway in Owensboro, KY ($1,500 to win), and Tuesday July 4 at Fayette County Speedway in Brownstown, Il ($1,500 to win).
